Chapter Three

Demon

Two Years Later

“It’s light tonight,” I said to Rukus as he poured me another whiskey.

I surveyed the clubhouse, noticing none of the normal crew was there fucking off for the weekend.

The quiet annoyed me, almost as much as the club-chick next to me.

Loni slid her hand further up my thigh caressing it, not being subtle at all. “We could always go up to the apartment.”

I took a deep breath, and when that didn’t calm me, I chugged the rest of my whiskey. I’d been fooling around with Loni for a while now, and she was getting more territorial by the day. The subtle way she called it the apartment, instead of my apartment was all I needed to hear to know it was time to call it quits.

“Listen, Loni.” I grabbed her hand and put it on the top of the bar. Rukus cleared his throat and busied himself with taking inventory on the opposite side of where we were.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” She screeched. I assessed her with cold eyes that had gotten me into, and won an equal number of fights in my days.

Loni was dressed in black leather. Her dyed blonde hair stiff from the damage she’d done to it over the years. She was a couple years older than me, and even in her advanced age didn’t seem to understand the drill.

“No, I’m not fucking kidding you. Don’t cause a scene in my club.” I tossed back the rest of my drink, wondering how this was going to play out.

“We’ve been together for two months. You can’t just kick your old lady to the curb, Demon.”

I laughed. A deep long belly laugh.

Loni stomped on her high heeled feet. Her eyes squinted in anger.

“Damn, I didn’t realize it was two months. I should’ve ended this early. And just to clarify we’ve been fucking. You may be an old lady, but you were never, and never will be my old lady. Look, it was okay sometimes fun, and now it’s over.”

“Fuck you, Demon.”

I cracked my neck to the side. Loni shrunk away, remembering who the hell she was talking to. “If you don’t make a scene, I’ll allow you to keep coming to the bar. If you keep this up, you won’t get back in here. Do you understand me? The new prospect, Donald, has been making fuckin’ eyes at you. Maybe he’ll make you his old lady.”

I wasn’t going to admit to her the prospect, Donald was already on thin ice and wouldn’t be making the cut with this club. He was too shady and seemed to want things to go back to the old ways. Not on my watch. I needed to get rid of Donald just like I needed to get rid of Loni. If they got together it would be like a two for one.

“Don’t do me any favors. You’re making a mistake.” She swung her purse over her shoulder and stomped out.

“About damn time you got rid of her, boss.” Rukus leaned against the bar. “I was gonna pull you aside and tell you she’d been starting to bark orders when you weren’t around.”

“Shit, sorry Rukus. You should’ve told me, I would’ve kicked her to the curb sooner. I was getting sick of her screechy voice and clinginess anyway.”

“No, problem. I know you’re going through some shit getting the new mechanic shop opened, and the weed shop started. I figured you’d come around.”

“Now that shit seems to be running smoothly for a second, where the hell is everyone?”

“They’re all at Angel’s bar.”

My neck snapped to the side hearing her name. It’d been two years since I almost broke my vow and fucked Angel, not giving a damn about the repercussions.

Two years since I almost fucked up but pulled back at the last minute.

I knew letting her fall asleep on my lap was a bad idea, but she looked so pathetic stumbling in my room with her hair going every which way. My shirt with my favorite baseball team riding up her sexy toned legs, giving me hints of heaven when it shifted. It was too much for even a saint. And a saint was something I was not.

“What do you mean at Angel’s bar?” My question came out as a growl.

Rukus’ fuzzy eyebrows pushed up at my question, but he got smart real quick. He cleared his throat at the pissed off face I was making, and turned around to put a bottle away. His move made it so he couldn’t see me grinding the back of my teeth together.
