Fuck. This was a mess. He couldn’t lay everything on Lars. He should have reminded him. Calla was his pet. He should have taken better care of him. Adew looked around for the okie. When he didn’t see him, he got up and looked down the hallway. And there he was, lying in front of the steel door. He’d been behaving like that for days now. Lying in front of the door as if there was something he was waiting for.

Adew made sure to take him out in the wee hours of the morning, when he was sure there was no one out there. So far, he’d succeeded in taking Calla out to do his business without any mishaps. Though Calla still went to the wall and investigated, he came back as soon as he was called. But his behaviour was concerning. Adew didn’t know what to make of it.

“What’s up with him?” Lars asked from behind him.

Adew shook his head. He was tired of the drama. “He’s been like that since you put in the steel door. I don’t know what’s wrong with him.”

“He probably wants his freedom. It can’t be healthy being locked up in the house for hours. His routine changed drastically after you got hurt, and now you’re back but you’re still not doing the things he was used to doing. It must be tough on him.”

Lars’s words stabbed Adew’s heart, reminding him that he wasn’t the same alpha anymore. Maybe it was time he moved. Calla couldn’t live like this.

“I’ll move back home. At least there he had his own space, and my neighbours liked him,” Adew said. Though moving back meant he would be living with Urim again.

Nope, that wasn’t going to happen. He needed a new house. He couldn’t live with the omega again and give him false hope. He had to convince him to live his own life, but he hadn’t found a way to do that yet. “Can you find me another house? This time outside of the capital, with lots of space for Calla, since I’m unable to exercise him yet.”

“Yeah, sure,” Lars said squeezing his shoulder. “I’ll find something you’ll like again.”

“I know,” Adew said.

“I’ll get going then. You’ve been given a week to move out.” Lars walked to the door. “I’ll let you know what I find.”

“Thanks,” Adew said, waving him off. He walked down the hallway and stared at Calla. The okie didn’t even look up at him. “Whatever is going on with you will end soon. We’ll be moving to a big place. You can have all the space you want. So, cheer up and stop moping around. You’re stressing me out and making me feel guilty for getting hurt and abandoning you with Lars for a year. I’ve never seen you like this before.”

Calla finally looked up at him. Adew brushed his head, a little mollified that he wasn’t completely mad at him for locking him inside.

“Do you want dinner? I think we should have a relaxed night. What do you say? Vegetate in front of the viewer for a few hours and then go to sleep,” Adew said, walking to the cooking station. He took out Calla’s meat. His claws scratched the floor as he followed him. Adew dropped the meat into his mouth and turned to prepare his own food. Done, he made his way to the sitting area. Calla followed him there and sat at his feet. He turned the viewer on and watched a couple of Djohn Moulekk’s old fights while he ate. The alpha was a beast. Every move he made was calculated and precise. He fought with skill, not relying on his aggression to get him the win. He never went all the way, while he did. His aggression was power, but Djohn had got the better of him, somehow.

“I’ll have my rematch soon. Now, I know what to expect,” he told himself, studying Djohn’s every move. He’d done that before their fight, but back then he hadn’t taken it seriously. He was Adew fucking Pax. He met his opponents head on. He didn’t change his fighting style for anyone. But this time he was going to do everything in his power to get that title match.

He just had to walk on his own again.

Soon, Adew thought. He shut down the viewer and returned his plate to the cooking station. He cleaned up and made sure everything was as it should before he made his way to his room. He took off the WAB and got into bed.

Calla lay beside him with a sigh. Adew ran his fingers in the okie’s fur. He closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep.

He woke up a few minutes later feeling too warm. Calla was gone, so he was surprised why he was warm. The okie tended to give off too much heat.

Adew kicked off the covers and turned to his side. But the simple move seemed to detonate an explosion of tingly sensations rushing down his back. His toes curled involuntarily, and his cock jerked at the delicious feeling. He stared down at himself, confused. Goosebumps dotted his skin as a wave of desire hit him, taking his breath away.

What the fuck? Adew reached down and touched his fast-hardening cock, wrapping his fingers around it. He hissed as pleasure flooded his veins.

Oh, shit… He gritted his teeth as his entire body bowed off the bed, his hips ground into his hand, chasing the pleasure. He wanted to come so badly.

Fuck… fuck… fuck… he moaned, moving his hand faster. But his orgasm seemed elusive. The more he stroked himself, the needier he became. His skin grew unbearably hot and he got too turned on for comfort. And it was getting worse. Adew clenched his jaw, willing his body to calm the fuck down. But something needy and hot coiled and roiled deep inside him.

Shit. Was he going into heat for the first time in a year? Why did it feel so intense? Like he’d go crazy if he didn’t give in. As an aggressive alpha his heats were always intense, but this felt like he was slowly coming out of his skin as desire raked its nails across his back, spurring him into action.

He shoved his underclothes down, moaning as the cloth slid over his hard cock. His eyes rolled to the back of his head at the mere contact. He bit the inside of his mouth to keep from whimpering. His cock ached so hard it hurt. Adew let it go, feeling like he was making it worse. He rolled on the bed, moaning into the mattress, as wave after wave of desire washed over him.

He needed to cool off.

He got off the bed and hobbled to the washroom. He moaned as he reached the bathing bot. His body started to hurt for a whole different reason. He grimaced as he turned the bot on, choosing cold water. He tried as carefully as he could to slide into the bot, but his arms slipped, and he watched himself fall headfirst into the bot.

“Oh, shit,” Adew exclaimed. He twisted around, changing direction. But he fell to the ground instead. He hit the ground with a resounding thud that took his breath away, his arms twisted beneath him. His neck sat in an awkward position that caused pain to radiate through his entire body. He breathed hard, feeling like his neck was cut off from his body. He tried to move, but the slightest movement seemed to twist his neck.

He couldn’t move unless he wanted to hurt himself further. He took shallow breaths, praying that Lars would come back and help him. Calla walked into the washroom and stared down at him. He licked his face and shoved him with his head, as if he were begging him to get up.

“I can’t,” Adew said, hating how weak he’d become. “If only you could go for help. But people would run screaming, wouldn’t they?”
