Nylune’s body turned cold.
“What?” He couldn’t be with an alpha. That was out of the question. “Dr Micha, you know that I can’t…” being with an alpha would drive him crazy. He couldn’t. He would be a slave to that alpha. He would… His hands shook and his knees buckled as he remembered how he had been after his scandal with Deltta. He reached for the chair next to him.
“I know. But I believe it’s the only way,” Dr Micha said softly. His tone always managed to calm him, but this time Nylune was too anxious for it to work. He felt like he was about to lose his breakfast. “Your blood results came out with a slight decrease in your hormones. This has never happened since the incident five years ago. Only now, when you spent the whole night agonising over that strange alpha, do we see a change. Your loss of time that night can be explained too. Dissociative fugue can be caused by severe stress.”
No. This couldn’t be. Nylune raked his brain trying to figure it out. He latched onto the first idea that popped into his mind.
“Maybe it’s just a random change in my body. I’ve been around you for years. You’re an alpha. Nothing like this ever happened. I could be getting better.”
“That’s because you never saw me as a possible mate. To you, I was your doctor. Even though you reacted to my scent sometimes, it was never that deep, and you could brush it off, because deep down you knew I couldn’t give you what you needed.”
Nylune gasped, blushing.
“I know it sounds crass, but it’s the truth. You never reacted to me that way. However, as soon as you heard the alpha that night, all you could think about was catching his scent and what would happen if you did. You thought of him as a potential mate.”
“But I don’t know him…”
“I know. I’m hoping the same thing will happen with another alpha. There must be something you reacted to … maybe it was his voice, since you didn’t catch his scent.”
Nylune tried to think back and shivered as the timbre of his voice exploded in his mind. The alpha had a nice voice.
“We can find an alpha with a similar tone of voice. If that’s not possible, we can find one that you like.”
Nylune stared at the desk unseeing. Could he be saying what he thought he was saying? “Are you saying you’ll find me an alpha?”
Dr Micha didn’t hesitate. “Yes. I made you a promise five years ago. And I plan to keep it. I’ll find a cure, no matter what. Even if I must turn the planet upside down to find you an alpha who’ll help you. Your health is important to me.”
“Okay,” Nylune said, even though he wasn’t sure about the whole thing. Where would he find an alpha to be with him? The scandal five years ago had ruined his life; his reputation was tarnished. No alpha would want an omega who’d had sex with the alpha king in his office. Nylune bit the inside of his mouth, feeling mortified. He’d acted like a whore.
Who’d want that?
He wished there was another way. He hung his head, tears prickling his eyes. He blinked them away, but they trickled down his cheeks.
As if he sensed his distress, Dr Micha said his name softly. Nylune straightened. “Don’t worry. I’ll handle everything. There is an alpha patient of mine who needs an omega. You and the alpha will be helping each other. He needs you as much as you need him. I won’t put you in a situation where you’ll feel uncomfortable.”
“Okay,” Nylune said feeling a little better. He didn’t want to burden anyone. But if they needed each other, maybe it wouldn’t be as uncomfortable.
“I’ll talk to him and arrange a meeting. I’ll let you know when.”
“Alright,” Nylune said. “I’ll wait to hear from you.”
The connector went silent. Nylune pulled the chair and sat down. He stared down at the desk, his mind whirling. He couldn’t believe the answer to his problem had been so simple. He needed an alpha to take away the constant need in his body. He’d avoided alphas for years because he didn’t want to go through what he’d experienced five years ago. He was a fool; he should have given into his body’s need. His body had been telling him all along. But he had been afraid of losing control. Nylune cringed, remembering that wanton creature who’d thought about nothing but being fucked.
Thinking of which… Nylune gasped and gripped the edge of the desk as his hole pulsed growing wet, he could feel the liquid soaking into his underpants. His second heat was fast approaching. And it was going to be a bad one.
Fuck, he hoped Dr Micha’s alpha agreed to be with him or he was doomed. His body was ready for an alpha.
Chapter 7
Adew
The council’s decision was finally in. And it wasn’t good. Adew dropped the data reader on the table and leaned back into the couch with a sigh. He couldn’t believe they were kicking him out. Lars had spent days trying to beg the council officer for leniency, but their decision was made. They were going to grant the omega his fucking wish. Adew rubbed his eyes, feeling like he was about to lose it. His aggression rose inside him, filling the room with his scent. Lars winced a few paces from him. He got up and walked to the window. Adew took a deep breath and tried to calm down. But fuck…he liked the house. He wanted to live there.
“There must be a law against this. They can’t just kick me out without giving me a warning. This is my first offence in this neighbourhood. Surely that means something.”
“It would if we hadn’t broken the rules first. I should have submitted the papers a month ago, but with everything that was going on…” Lars wiped a hand across his face and sighed. “I’m sorry.”
Adew sighed too.
