“Life just caught up with you,” Lars said, patting his back. “It happens to the best of us. Maybe now you can start living for something other than UA.”
“I don’t want anything else.” Adew turned and walked back into the house. “Please let me know what your friend from the council says. I’m going to take a nap.”
Lars stared at the bright morning sun, and then at him. “Right now?”
“Yes. I’m following my doctor’s instructions.”
“I’m sure Ajin would be happy,” Lars said with a laugh.
Adew closed the door and walked to his room. He wasn’t doing it for Ajin. He was feeling a little under the weather. He touched his forehead. It felt a little warm. He dropped his connector on the bedside table and walked to the WAB stand. He took off the WAB and slowly walked to the bed. He was gaining movement in his legs slowly but surely. As long as he didn’t spend too much time in the WAB, he was fine. He lay down in his underclothes. He moaned as his body sank into the mattress.
Calla walked into his room and jumped on the bed. He licked his cheek, but Adew didn’t respond. He did it again, nudging him with his head.
“I’m still angry with you. So don’t start with me,” Adew said, turning away. Calla dropped down next to him and started to hum. “That’s a low blow, buddy. You know I’m a sucker for your humming.” Adew closed his eyes, the vibrations working their way down his spine. He sighed. He should get Calla registered as a support animal. But that would raise too many questions. They were already in trouble. He didn’t need more people looking into his life.
Adew slept for a few hours and when he woke up Calla was gone. Even though he knew he wouldn’t get out, since Lars had had a steel door put in, his still felt anxious. He quickly got out of his bed, wincing with every step he took as he made his way down the hallway. He found Calla sitting at the door, staring at it. He turned to stare at him as he came to stand behind him.
“Do you want to go out?” he asked, leaning against the wall. This was the farthest he’d ever gone without the support of the WAB. He should be celebrating, but he couldn’t because Calla was bent on getting them kicked out. “You’re going to have to hold it in until later tonight. Hopefully our neighbour would be asleep by then.”
Calla scratched the door, his claws making a horrendous sound that made Adew wince.
“I’ll take you out, I promise,” Adew said. But Calla didn’t budge. Adew stared up at the ceiling, praying for patience. “Don’t make this hard for me, please. We are about to be kicked out. Don’t make it worse.”
Calla ignored him and started to hum, staring at the door.
“What are you doing?” he asked confused. He’d never seen him do that before. He always hummed for him, never at nothing. What was out there? Adew asked himself, staring at the door and then at Calla.
He was going to get him into trouble again, wasn’t he?

Nylune
Yes, last one!
Nylune fist bumped the air in victory as he made sure the scent patch was secure on the wall. He’d stuck it out all morning, sticking each patch on the wall, to create a fuzzy citrus smelling, ugly as fuck fresco. He pulled the gas mask off and took a deep breath. His eyes watered as the smell hit him.
“Oh, that’s strong,” he mumbled, blinking away tears as he took a couple of steps back from the wall. He sniffed his hands and cringed. He should have worn his gloves. Now he was going to smell citrusy for the whole day. At least he wouldn’t catch the alpha’s scent by mistake. And hopefully, by the time the smell from the patches wore off, he would be long gone. He felt bad for chasing him out of his home, but he needed him to move for his own sanity. If he could move, he would do it. Maybe he should….
No. Nylune caught himself. He shouldn’t feel sorry for him. He’d lied. He deserved to be kicked out. It wasn’t Nylune’s fault.
Nylune packed the empty boxes to dispose of later and returned to the house. His connector went off just as he walked through the door. He ran to his office where he’d left it after his first heat. His second heat would be starting soon. The pleasuring bot he’d tested that morning was a classic that Ludiin had revamped, enhancing its perfection. The phallus pleasuring bot was loved by many, including him. He didn’t see any fault with its second version, though he felt people would still gravitate to the original. He had to come up with something that would make people love the second version just as much as the original.
He rounded his desk and picked up his connector. His heart thudded in his chest when he saw Dr Micha’s code displayed on the screen. Had he found out what had happened to him that night? Nylune’s stomach did a funny dance as he answered. Why was he so nervous?
“Dr Micha?”
“Yes, Nylune,” the alpha said. “Have you been well?”
“Yes,” Nylune said, his anxiety mounting. He wanted to ask him why he’d connected with him, but he was afraid to. What if there was really something wrong with him? What if he’d developed some kind of spacing out disorder on top of his prolonged heat. With the kind of luck he had, it was possible. Nylune swallowed. He hoped not. “Did you have something to tell me?”
“Yes. I don’t know how to say this. The blood samples I took from you showed a slight decrease in your hormones. It’s not significant enough to affect your prolonged heat, but I think we might have found a way to stop it indefinitely,” he said.
Nylune’s heart slammed against his ribs. To stop his prolonged heat. He wanted that more than anything. He couldn’t think of a day where he wasn’t horny and needy. The thought of just being normal… that sounded amazing.
“How?” he asked.
“You need an alpha.”
