If they could negotiate...then…
“I can do it,” Jamue said, determination burning in his veins.
Being under another alpha might not stop his parents, but it would definitely slow them down, especially if the news came out that he belonged to another alpha.
His father won’t like that.
A sliver of fear sliced through him as he thought of his rage filled eyes. He was going to kill him.
But it was better than being forced into a bond he didn’t want.
Jamue sat in his chair and took over from Mac. He quickly updated his profile and applied for the job. He held his breath as he watched the successfully submitted message pop up on the screen. He’d seen so many of those but never got the job.
Now, he hoped his luck had changed.
“Okay, all we have to do now is wait,” Mac said confidently. “Never give up. You taught me that, remember?”
Jamue nodded. He remembered.
He looked around him, taking in the beautiful things they’d created. His parents might have had a hand in making things easy for them, but everything here was theirs.
He had to fight for it, even if it killed him.
Later that day, he returned home with his things as promised.
“You’re finally behaving like my son,” his father told him as he walked through the door.
His words hurt, but Jamue didn’t allow the pain to sink too deep. He only had to endure this for a few days. He’d be gone soon…he hoped and prayed.

A few days later, his prayers were answered.
The automated voice filled the space, announcing:“You have a message.”
“Finally!” Mac screeched from his table and ran to his desk. “I’ve been so anxious.”
“Why?” Jamue asked, even though he’d been dying inside.
“It felt like we were in the commune all over again, waiting for something to happen,” Mac said. “We’ve achieved so much, but we’re still oppressed.”
“You’re not,” Jamue said, shoving him playfully. “The Alpha King lets you do anything you want. He adores you.”
Mac blushed.
Jamue turned to the screen and read the message.
Congratulations, you've been selected for an interview. Please confirm your attendance by choosing a date and time to receive more details.
Jamue chose the earliest date and clicked the confirm button. The sooner he got it done, the better.
Another message popped up.
The alpha will conduct the interviews at his home. A representative from the agency will pick you up at your location and be present during the interview. Good luck.
“Okay, that sounds easy enough,” Mac said.
Easy?
