Not for him.

Jamue shoved his misgivings away and looked on the bright side. He got an interview. Next step... pass the interview and get himself an alpha.

I can do it, Jamue told himself.

He closed the agency site and tapped his pad. It displayed his designs on the screen.

Jamue's spirit lifted as he stared at them. He opened his recent project.

He came up with a spirit kit. He planned to launch it during their first tasting event.

“What’s that?” Mac asked, leaning close to the screen. “Are we selling to individuals now?”

“No,” Jamue laughed. He liked their profit margins, thank you very much. Individuals wouldn’t bring in the kind of revenue they made selling to leisure rooms. “This is for our sampling event. It’s a spirit kit. I want the event to be interactive and engaging, make our customers feel like they are part of the creative process. The kit will contain two concentrated spirits with a dilutant.”

“It’s a good idea. I have recipes we can try. But what if they want more of the kit? What then?”

“Selling concentrated spirits is a risk for us. There are many variables we can’t control. That’s why this is going to be a limited edition. I want our first sampling event to be memorable and interactive. An experience our customers will never forget.”

Mac tapped his chin thoughtfully.

“I think we should start with our usual sampling event and then bring in the kit as the highlight, but with one concentrated spirit and a dilutant."

That made sense.

“Alright, I’ll edit the design, make it smaller and pretty. Let me know if you want me to add anything.”

“No. It’s perfect,” Mac said. “I’ll come up with something delicious and unforgettable.”

“Unforgettable?” Jamue stared at him thoughtfully. “I’ve been struggling to come up with a name for it. 'Unforgettable moment' sounds nice.”

Mac laughed.

“Are you sure? It sounds sensual to me. We’re not trying to seduce anyone.”

“That’s what you think,” Jamue said. “Seduction is in everything I do. How do you think I get everyone to buy our spirits?”

“Here I thought it was my talent, but I guess it's your gorgeous face.” Mac leaned down and kissed him soundly.

Jamue giggled, feeling giddy inside.

Work made him forget about his troubles, especially, how his life might change soon.

“My gorgeous face and my sweet voice. They can’t help but fall for me,” he added playfully.

“Let’s hope your charm works on your soon-to-be alpha,” Mac said, reminding him.

Jamue’s smile fell.

“Don’t look so glum. No alpha can resist you.” Mac squeezed his shoulder and returned to his long table.

No alpha can resist me, Jamue told himself, every second of every day until the day of his interview.

The agency’s representative picked him up from their building thirty minutes before his interview. The beta stared at the gleaming sign above the double doors and then brought his eyes to him.

Jamue flushed.

He recognized him.
