Maybe Tarymn wanted to ask him now.

Hym hoped so.

They needed the council of alphas’ backing. The council could open doors they would otherwise have snuck in, which made things a little tricky and tedious.

Hym hated sneaking around. He would rather face his enemy head-on.

“Did you find out who killed Pharyi?”

Tarymn looked up. “Uhm…No. I haven’t. We’re still looking into it.”

This was his chance.

“I’ll ask Alpha Force to help, though you said you don’t want Makar to handle the case.”

Tarymn sighed. “I don’t. I don’t trust him after what happened to you. But we might have to. Deltta is not safe until we find out who’s trying to kill him. But that’s not what I wanted to talk to you about.” Tarymn hesitated. “I think you should get a companion omega.”

“What?”

"A companion omega. I think you need one."

He heard him...but

"Where the fuck did that come from?"

“I've been thinking about it for a while now."

Hym snarled.

“Hear me out.” Tarymn stared at him, eyes full of pain. “It hurts me to see you like this. I know what it’s like to want something you can’t have. The torment.” He rubbed his chest. Hym’s eyes trailed to the door, thinking of their stepbrother. The omega was asleep in his room, right across his brother’s – so very close.

Even though his brother hadn’t said it, he knew he wanted their stepbrother.

Hym thought he’d gotten over that.

Maybe not.

Tarymn cleared his throat. “I think a companion omega would help you. He could offer you the comfort you need, take away some of the longing.”

If only it were that simple.

Hym sighed.

“It won’t be him, Tarymn.”

“I know. But eventually, you won’t yearn for your dream omega. You’ll have someone there to give you what you need. Eventually…eventually you’ll move on and be able to live.”

Hym stared at him. His brother genuinely believed that. “Can you live without Ludiin?”

Tarymn visibly jerked.

“I guess not.”

“It’s not the same thing. And you know it.”

Hym laughed. Of course, it wasn’t.

Tarymn had his omega. He didn't.
