But…Hym pulled air through his mouth as his heart ached… because he wasn’t sure his omega was real...
“Was it the one where you claimed him?” his brother asked softly.
Hym clenched his jaw.
And then there was that - he claimed the omega in his dreams. He tasted his blood as he gave him his claiming mark, felt his hole squeeze around him as he took his knot…
“No,” he forced out.
Tarymn sagged into the chair in relief. Hym looked away, opening the bottle.
“Are you alright?”
He stared at his brother. He knew what he wanted to ask, but he couldn’t bring himself to.
Since they moved from pack life a hundred years ago and built a more civilized society with a thriving economy, and didn’t turn into their wolve forms anymore, it was a rare thing on their planet to find someone who did.
And he was that someone.
But his wolf was triggered by one dream; the dream where he claimed his mate.
He changed into his wolf, going crazy as he searched for his mate. That was one of the things that convinced him he did meet the omega, or he wouldn’t react so strongly to his dreams. His wolf was desperate to find him.
Fuck.
Hym rubbed the back of his neck as frustration bubbled inside him.
“Hym?”
He forced a smile. “I’m fine, I promise.”
He was fine. He had to keep telling himself that until he believed it.
It was taking him too damn long, though.
It's been five fucking years.
Yet it felt like yesterday.
“Good,” Tarymn said. He looked at him and then down at the counter. “I’ve been thinking…”
Hym took a sip of his water, glad for the change in subject.
He’d been thinking too.
The alphas who tried to kill the alpha king won't hand themselves over. They had to find them.
He was glad Deltta was back where he belonged, but the fight wasn’t over yet. There was a threat hanging over his head.
With his second inauguration coming up, Hym feared they'd try again.
It was annoying that he hadn’t figured out who wanted the alpha king dead. Pharyi's murder was a dead-end too.
There were no leads or witnesses, which was strange. The detention centre was highly secure and outfitted with the best security on the planet. It didn’t make any sense that someone infiltrated the centre and killed one of their prisoners without anyone seeing anything.
Makar and his team were looking into it. Well, unofficially.
The council of alphas was yet to ask Alpha Force to get involved.
