“He’s fine. And I can’t tell you more he’s still under investigation. Be glad you’re allowed to see him. Makar must be in a charitable mood,” Roc said with a sniff.

Jamue growled irritably.

“You don’t have to be rude,” he snapped.

Roc looked at him over his shoulder. Jamue looked away. He knew he was being irrational; the alpha was only stating facts.

He was just disappointed.

He hadn’t thought Hym would react like that. He knew he looked odd with his birthmark, but … he was still him.

Chapter 21

Hym

Makar shoved him into his office and locked the door.

Hym snarled, feeling his wolf rise within him. Hym pushed it down and resisted the raw aggression that filled his veins. He wanted to gouge Makar’s eyes out, rake his claws across his face for dragging him away from Jamue - from his mate, his fucking dream. He held on to his need to obey his commander, to follow his alpha, and fought his instinct to fight him.

Makar turned to him cautiously. “The omega with the mark on his face, do you know him?”

“Why?” He asked suspiciously.

“Please tell me. This is not the time for games. Do you know him? Yes or no.”

“You know the answer to that. I said his fucking name right in front of you,” Hym said smoothly. “He’s my companion omega. But from your reaction, he’s more than that. He’s mine, isn’t he? He’s my dream omega. But my fucking dreams were not dreams at all. Am I right?”

“Fuck, Hym,” Makar said. “What do you want me to say?”

“Tell me the truth. Put me out of my misery. It's him, right? That mark was the first thing I saw when I regained my eyesight. He looked so gorgeous to me, unique. I was obsessed with it,” he said. “And I kept searching for it on his face because he reminded me so much of my dream omega. But he wasn’t a fucking dream, was he?”

“No.”

Hym gasped.

Makar rounded his desk and dropped down in his chair with a sigh.

Hym stared at him. Rage, mistrust, and betrayal swirled inside him. He couldn’t believe his alpha, the man he trusted with his life, lied to him.

Hym leaned over his desk and stared him down.

“Why did you fucking lie to me? I went through hell and thought I was going crazy because you kept telling me my dreams were not real when they were real. Why?”

Makar pointed at the chair in front of the desk. “Sit.”

“No. I would rather stand.”

The alpha growled, letting his scent thicken.

Hym dropped into the chair, not because he was weaker than him, but because he wanted him to talk.

Makar went silent for a minute.

Hym prayed for patience.

“I didn’t tell you because I made a promise to his family. There was no other way. I asked them to let him help you heal since you seemed to respond to only him, your true mate. He was on the cusp of his first heat, and you triggered it when you latched onto him and wouldn’t let go. You spend four days together, and you claimed him, bonding with him.”

He shared his first heat with him … but Jamue said his first heat was late.
