Movers carried furniture out of the house, putting it in the yard.

No.

Jamue jumped out as soon as the pod stopped in front of the house. He rushed inside, stepping out of the way of the movers.

“May I help you?” a deep dark voice asked.

“Yes. Is Holi here?”

The alpha stared at him. “No. I’m looking for him too. Do you know where I can find him?”

“No.” Jamue backed out. He met Mac at the door. He took his hand and turned him around.

“He’s not here,” he said quickly.

They walked back to the pod and got inside. Yarr drifted away. Jamue glanced back at the house, wondering where Holi was.

I hope he’s fine…that alpha was…Jamue shook his head. He was fine. Holi was a survivor.

“Do you know where he might be?”

Jamue shook his head. “I'll keep looking for him.” He had to find him.

“I’ll ask Deltta to dig deeper.”

“Thanks,” Jamue said, taking Mac’s hand. “I'd appreciate it. I…”

Mac’s connector went off, interrupting him.

“Excuse me.” He pulled it out. “Mom? Calm down, I can’t understand what you’re saying. Rhine? What happened to him?” Mac gasped. “Where is Dhean?”

“What's going on?” Jamue asked.

Mac blinked rapidly.

Was he crying?

“Mac?”

The omega shook his head, focused on whatever his mother was saying. “Mom, where did they take him? Did they tell you?”

Take who? His brother?

“Send me the address. I’ll go there,” he said.

“Mac, what’s going on?”

“My brother has been detained. I need to get to him,” he said hysterically.

Jamue pulled him into his arms. “Breathe Mac. We’ll go to him.”

Mac took two deep breaths and nodded. “Yarr, can you take us here, please?”

He showed the beta the address. He gave a sharp nod.

“Maybe you should connect with Deltta and tell him what happened. He’ll be able to get to the bottom of this faster.”

“Yes,” Mac said.
