“Tell me you have the new spirits ready to go,” he said.
“Let’s talk business.” Jamue walked to the war room. Mac packed their things while they discussed prices and shipment costs.
“You drive a hard bargain, Jamue,” Ashur complained but accepted Jamue’s offer.
“It's business.” Jamue shrugged. He took Mac’s hand and they made their way out of the war room.
“He’s still here,” Jamue commented.
Yes, he was.
Breathless, Mac watched his slow approach. The entire room watched and gasped as one as he reached for him; strong fingers wrapped around his arm and pulled.
What was he doing?
Mac gulped as he lowered his head to his right in front of everyone. His lips grazed his in the briefest of kisses, but it left him feeling claimed and exposed; the tense moment intensified by the people’s shocked silence. Mac clung to him, hiding behind his larger frame.
He wondered what they were thinking. Or maybe he didn’t want to know. He burrowed into Deltta’s chest.
“Don’t hide,” Deltta whispered, pulling away.
“Why did you do that?” Mac touched his tingling lips.
“Because I wanted to.” Deltta smiled. “Are you done here?”
Speechless, Mac nodded. Deltta intertwined their fingers.
“You’re doing fine,” he whispered.
Was he? Mac tried hard not to listen to the murmuring sounds around them as they made their way out of the leisure room. When they reached the parking dome, he remembered his friend.
“Jamue?”
“Over there.” Deltta pointed to another section of the dome.
Jamue waved at him, walking with Griean and Djohn.
Damn, he didn’t even notice that his brother was there. His eyes had been on Deltta the whole time. He'd captured him, body and soul.
“Stop fighting it before it’s too late.”Jamue’s words echoed in his mind. Could he take the plunge and trust his heart?

Deltta
Deltta hoped he was doing the right thing.
His hands tightened around the controllers as he drifted towards the health center. He was going to do it – he was going to remove the claiming mark and start on a clean slate.
Well, that’s what he hoped would happen. He had no idea how the procedure worked, but Mac wanted it. He was going to show him that his feelings were real.
But he was scared.
What if everything ended between them?
Deltta swallowed.
