“Mac?”
“I won’t run away, I promise.”
“Good,” Jamue said firmly.
They loaded the samples into the serving bots and got everything ready. A few minutes later, they heard the hubbub of the crowd walking in. Excitement thrummed in the air. Mac moved to the door to watch. Jamue came to stand next to him.
“That’s a lot of people,” Mac commented just as the crowd parted. Imaging flashes went off, and there he was...
“Wait is that…?” Jamue asked. Mac’s heart slammed hard against his ribs. “Did he tell you he was coming?”
Mac couldn’t answer, rendered mute by the breath-taking alpha sauntering through the door. His hand flew to the metal around his neck. Deltta’s eyes fell on his hand. They heated.
Oh fuck… Mac gasped.
“Damn, that’s hot,” Jamue mumbled next to him.
Mac blushed and moved back into the war room.
“You should accept his proposal, Mac. You can’t deny there’s something between you. No alpha looks at an omega like that without him feeling something deeply. And don’t tell me about your claiming mark. You want him too.”
True…but…
As if he could read his mind, Jamue stepped close to him. “Stop fighting it before it's too late.”
“I…”
Ashur rushed in before he could say anything.
“I can’t believe the alpha king came. We should get started. I don’t want to keep him waiting,” he said.
“Of course, we can’t keep the mighty king waiting.” Jamue straightened his long shirt and turned to Mac. “Are you ready?” he asked.
Mac nodded. Jamue took his hand, and together they walked out of the war room, followed by the bots. Mac took a deep breath and faced the crowd. As soon as his eyes landed on Deltta, everything became a blur.
Time seemed to stop; his heart pounded louder. He distantly heard Jamue start the event. He introduced him as the creator, and he must have done something because the crowd roared. But all he could see was Deltta.
He was transfixed, entranced by the desire he saw in his eyes. No alpha has ever looked at him like he was the only omega in the room, and he belonged to him, only him.
Mac gulped.
Jamue grasped his arm and beamed up at him.
“We did it,” he said.
Was it over? Mac looked around them, everyone was on their feet clapping.
It was over, and he missed it all. His eyes fell on Deltta again. He was still staring at him.
Mac shivered.
“We should really move our business here.”
Mac nodded reflexively.
“Are you saying yes? Are we moving?” Jamue asked excitedly.
Oh shit… he opened his mouth to say something, but Ashur walked to them.
