It was a risk he was willing to take to prove his love. And it might be the dumbest thing he’d ever done to prove his love. If he lost Mac, there’d be no one else for him.
He turned into the center’s parking dome and brought the pod to a stop. Heart hammering in his chest, he got out of the pod.
Fuck, this was harder than he’d thought. He was on the verge of losing everything or gaining the whole world. Mac was his everything.
Please, don’t let this be the end, Deltta prayed as he took his hand and walked to the double doors.
“What are we doing here?” Mac asked as they slid open.
“What you asked me to do. It took me a while to understand that you need this. I should have given it to you when you asked me. You’re right. I claimed you by accident. And I should have taken responsibility for that, not force you to accept me when you clearly didn’t want to. This is my way of fixing my mistake. I hope after the procedure, we can start on a clean slate. I want nothing between us. I want to start from the beginning.” Deltta swallowed, staring at him. “That’s if you want to.”
“I…” Mac began, but Micha interrupted them.
“I have everything ready, alpha king,” he said with a slight bow. Deltta nodded, and they followed him to the office. “The procedure is painless and simple. It will reverse any chemical bond formed between you. The mark will fade. It would be like you never met.”
Deltta grimaced.
Did he really have to say that part?
“Let’s do it,” he bit out.
Micha nodded, picking up a metal case from his desk. Inside the case were red capsules.
“Take this,” he said.
“That’s it?” Deltta stared at the capsule. He’d expected something complicated and scientific. Deltta took the capsule from Micha and swallowed it. Mac did the same.
It was done, Deltta thought as he stared at Mac. He shyly looked at his feet.
“If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call me,” Micha said.
“Thanks.” Deltta took Mac’s hand and they silently walked out of the office.
They got in the pod and drifted home. An oppressive tension hung between them. Mac could barely look at him. Deltta felt like he’d made a big mistake.
Well, he couldn’t fucking take it back.
He desperately reached for Mac's hand and intertwined their fingers.
I won’t let go, he silently promised.
“Good evening, master,” Yarr said as they walked through the door. “I presume everything went well.”
“Yes. Mac was amazing. And his new samples tasted delicious. I ordered a bottle for you.” Deltta forced a cheer in his voice.
“You did?” Mac gasped out.
“Of course. I love your spirits. I’ll buy anything you make.”
Mac shyly stared at him.
He was finally looking at him. Deltta stepped close to him, but then he remembered they were not alone.
“Thank you, master. But I liked the one we had at Brazen Leisure room. That one was delicious.”
“That’s mine. Why would I buy it for you?” Deltta growled out, walking away from Yarr.
Mac laughed as he followed him.
