Jamue gave him a confused look. “Are you coming?”
Mac got out of the shuttle. Jamue pulled him to his side.
“Shirhe, this is my friend, Mac. I told you about him, remember?” Jamue said sweetly.
“I remember.” Shirhe extended his hand. “It's nice to finally meet my brother’s alpha.”
Jamue told him about that. Mac blushed.
“Nice to meet you too,” he said. They stood there for a few awkward seconds. Shirhe moved to the double doors.
“My office is this way,” he said. They followed him there. Mac pulled out a chair to sit, but Dr Micha stopped him, pointing him to another door. “Jamue give us a minute.”
“Of course.” Jamue stepped outside.
Mac made his way into the room. He realized it was an examination room.
“Sit on the bed,” he instructed. Mac did as he was told. “Jamue told me you got bonded by accident.”
Mac nodded.
“The alpha doesn’t know?” Dr Micha stepped close to the bed. “May I?”
“I covered it with…”
“I have everything I need.” He moved around him, getting everything ready. Mac pulled his long shirt to the side, exposing the area. The cold touch of the solution made him shiver as Shirhe rubbed it into the side of his neck. “You haven’t answered my question.”
Nails dug into his palms. “He knows.” And he’s mad at me for not telling him, he silently added.
“He must be here for the removal. You know that, right?” Shirhe’s eyes bore into him. “A bond goes both ways.”
“I understand. Can it be done today?”
Shirhe gave him a long stare before he nodded. “Get him here, and I’ll help you any way I can.”
“Thank you,” Mac said, relieved.
“You’re my brother’s alpha. Anything for him,” he said, smiling for the first time since they met. “I’ll give you a minute to contact the alpha.”
Right, Mac thought as he watched him walk out of the room. He nervously pulled his connector out of his pocket and pressed Deltta’s code.
“Mac?”
Damn, that was quick.
“Uhh…can you please come to the Dladr Academy health center. I…”
“What happened? Are you hurt? Damn, I’ll be right there.”
“No. Listen…” The connector went silent.
Shit. He didn’t mean to scare him. Mac thought of connecting with him again. But he’d gotten what he wanted. He was coming.
Stop shaking, he told himself, clutching his connector tight.
A few minutes later, his connector went off.
“I’m almost there. Where are you?” Deltta asked, sounding agitated.
