Deltta’s nostrils flared. “You’re saying my feelings are not real?”

“I’m saying there are other things to consider.” Mac sighed, feeling like he wasn’t articulating himself well. He knew what he wanted to say, but it wasn’t easy. “I love that you love my body, but being bonded is serious.”

“You think I don’t know that.”

“Please, I know what I look like. It’s…”

Deltta’s eyes widened at his words. He looked hurt. “Fuck you, Mac. Fuck you and your insecurities.”

Dammit, Mac bit into his bottom lip.

He wished he could get up and leave, but he couldn’t. They were still stuck together. They sat there, with his knot blazing hot inside him.

Mac looked over his shoulder at the wall. Deltta breathed hard, anger roiling inside him.

Shit, he should have waited until they were done or accepted his proposal.

No. He couldn’t do that. He deserved to know what happened. He closed his eyes, wishing for the torture to end.

An hour later, Deltta’s knot softened, and his cock slipped out. Mac jumped off him and ran to the washroom. That was the most uncomfortable and embarrassing hour of his life. His entire body shook. How could their conversation go so wrong?

I have to get out of here. Mac turned to the door.

How was he going to face him? His stomach flipped nervously. When he finally came out, Deltta was gone. He quickly put on his clothes and connected with Jamue.

“Are you done with your alpha?” he laughed.

Mac ignored his question. “Please ask Griean to come pick me up.”

“Mac? What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. Just tell him to come, please.”

He picked up his packsack and made his way out of the house. He met no one along the way.

Mac was glad. That would have been embarrassing.

Chapter 20

Deltta

Deltta poured himself another glass of Red Amber. The spirit tasted foul, but he needed it. As always, everything in his life felt like shit.

Where the fuck did he go wrong? Did he come on too strong? Did he scare him?

Fuck, if he knew.

He thought they were on the same page. He thought he’d be thrilled he wanted to bond with him. The chemistry between them was explosive, the sex amazing. He made him feel alive again. He accepted him on every level. And then he had to go and say it was because he claimed him…by accident. The fuck?

Deltta silently groaned.

The door opened, and Yarr walked in.

“Morning, master. Should I set the table for one?” he asked.

“Did he leave?” Deltta knew Mac would run the first chance he got. He hoped he wouldn't.

You ran first, a voice said in the back of his mind.
