“Why?”

“I want to get to know you. I didn’t know how you felt about your body. It means there’s a lot I don’t know about you. And I want to know everything,” Deltta said.

“You think you know me?” Mac laughed. How much could he possibly know when they haven’t talked?

“Yes, I know you’re a talented spirit maker,” Deltta said.

“That’s a given. I’ve made you a spirit.” Mac shoved him.

Deltta went to his back, pulling him along with him. Mac shivered as his knot slid deeper inside him. They both groaned, enjoying the sizzling pleasure churning between them.

“How can you not like this gorgeous body? You feel so good, baby,” Deltta whispered breathlessly. Mac moaned, clutching him close.

“I’m glad you like the whole me,” Mac said, getting all sappy. Tears prickled his eyes, but he shoved them away. “What else do you know?”

“I know that you are a hard worker. When you have a vision, you make it happen, or you and Jamue wouldn’t have started your own business. You are kind and have a big heart. You didn’t judge me the first time we had sex, even though you saw my peculiarities. You didn’t even ask. You accepted me as I was.”

“Your peculiarities turned me on. I loved seeing the marks you left on my body. It meant I was truly here with you. It wasn’t a dream,” Mac said. “I dreamt of being with an alpha for so long. I never thought it would happen.”

“Is that why you got this?” He touched the black mark on his arm. “Were you going to be with any alpha that came along?”

“No. I got it to prevent any surprises.”

“Surprises? How many alphas have you been with?”

Mac frowned as he stared down at him. “Are you jealous?”

“Answer me,” he bit out. Warmth filled Mac at the thought that he might be jealous of him being with other alphas. It was ridiculous, but it made him feel wanted.

“Just you,” he said, burying his face in the covers.

“Only me, now and forever.”

“Don’t say that. You’ll make me start dreaming of the impossible.”

“Why is it impossible?” Deltta asked. “I want you, Mac. I want you to be mine. I know it’s too soon to decide how you feel about me. I want you to think about it, to think about us…like this every day.”

Mac made an incoherent sound. He was saying what he wanted to hear. But… Mac pulled away from him. “I need to show you something. Maybe you’ll feel differently after seeing it.”

“What?”

“I need something in my packsack.” Mac stared down at them. His knot throbbed inside him, locking them in place. Fuck. Maybe this wasn’t the best time to be having this conversation. Deltta held him close and scooted to the edge of the bed. He reached for the sack, and Mac took out the solution he used to remove the concealing strip. He squirted a small amount onto his fingers and rubbed it into his skin. A few seconds later, he peeled off the strip, revealing the claiming mark.

Deltta gasped.

“I thought it would fade,” Mac said. “I was going to tell you. But I…”

“I claimed you our first night together?” Deltta interrupted him. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“It was an accident. And I didn’t want you to feel burdened. To feel like you had to bond with me because of what happened. I…”

“You were willing to fuck me twice a month and then leave rather than be mine?”

“Don’t say it like that. I didn’t want to complicate things. You claimed me by accident. Our arrangement didn’t include this.” He pointed to the mark.

“And you think telling me now, when I’ve just opened myself up to you and told you I want more than just two fucks a month, that I want you to bond with me isn’t complicating things?” he asked. “I wanted to hear you say yes or say you’ll think about it. Not reveal that I already claimed you, and you think what I feel is influenced by some chemicals we’ve exchanged during the claiming.”

“You can’t tell me it’s not a possibility.”
