I felt dizzy, and as his mouth left mine to trail kisses down my jaw and neck, a slight moan escaped my lips and he growled against my skin in response.

And yet, something felt odd. My heart was racing a million miles an hour, and I was beginning to get way too hot, the world around us began to spin, and I felt as if I no longer had the strength to keep myself up. Everything went dark.

“Hayley? – Oh, bloody hell!”

* * *

“Hayley? Can you hear me?”

My eyes opened suddenly as I looked up at the living room ceiling, Darius sat next to me, holding my hand, and looking worried.

“What the hell happened?” I managed to ask.

“I know I’m a great kisser, but I didn’t think you’d faint.”

“Faint?!”

I covered my eyes with my free hand and rubbed my temples, feeling ridiculous and embarrassed. That was twice now I had fainted in front of him, and it was twice too many.

“I think I know what happened.”

Jackson’s voice appeared out of nowhere, and I sat up quickly looking around the room. Darius held my phone up in front of me as Jackson appeared on video call.

“What the hell?”

“Sorry, Hay. Jackson called while you were out, and I told him what happened.”

“YOU TOLD HIM!?”

“Yes, you slut.” Jackson winked at me as redness flew towards my cheeks.

“I was actually calling to discuss the report about your apartment. It was trashed, and everything was broken, but don’t worry, the clean-up crew will be there in a few days to tidy up. Molly has also set up new wards to stop another attack, hopefully.”

“And, what of Angelique?”

“I don’t think she’s important right now.”

“Jackson, she is our enemy, and who is behind all this bullshit that keeps happening. That is pretty important.”

Jackson paused, and I could see by his face he was hiding something from me as his eyes darted away and refused to make eye contact with me. Darius was still sitting next to me with his head in his hands, something had happened.

“What is it you’re not telling me? Both of you!”

“Hayley, two things actually…” Darius began to say, but Jackson jumped in, almost to shut him up.

“Bad news first, or the bigger badder news?”

“Just fucking tell me!”

I was becoming angry as my teeth gritted, and my hand closed to a fist. I was ready to throw the phone, and head to the house if this carried on. I was used to bad news but for Jackson to be apprehensive of telling me, it was definitely something big.

“Eric. He’s missing, and we are starting to believe he might be our mole.”

A coldness ran through my body as dread flooded my veins. Eric wouldn’t. He couldn’t be the mole, he wasn't the one who broke the original wards around the house, and he was attacked himself. But then again, we found no trace of his attacker, and there was no evidence to show anything.

“I want to see the evidence of this, if he actually is the mole.”

“Already been emailed to you.”
