He whispered nipping at my earlobe, and I nodded, breathlessly as he took me then from behind, bending me over slightly as his entire length entered me perfectly. My body curling round his as he thrusted in and out, enjoying every stroke, every moment before finally he came to his own end of pleasure, joining me in that second and as he sighed and slumped over me.
He pulled free and as I turned to look at him, he was red in the face and was quickly rushing back into the apartment to pull his pants back on. Before I could even say a word to him, he picked up his pack and t-shirt and was out the front door.
“Yep, Hayley, not one of your brightest ideas.”
Sighing, I headed towards the bathroom to shower, but I did feel a little lighter.
11
Heading towards the manor was the last place I wanted to go today, but after showering and attempting to sleep and only managing maybe an hour or two, I knew I had to head to my mother’s old office, my office now and look for those documents. Thankfully, the fire didn’t touch that room.
The fire.
As I reached the long driveway, the thought hit me, the fire might have been a distraction for something. Is that why Darius was at the manor? Did he know about the files, and was coming to collect them while the fire blazed? Or did someone else know about them?
I pulledinto the large garage, and one of the recruits was standing there prepped and ready to take the keys to my bike and helmet, eager even to help me in any way I required.
“Don’t worry, I will tell Eric and Sophia you’ve done your job well.”
Winking at him as I headed out the side door, up the garden path, and eventually through the door to the kitchen. I kept to the shadows as the manor staff just nodded as I prowled by them. I was hopeful I wouldn’t bump into Eric, or anyone for that matter, and just wanted to get in and get out as quickly as I could.
“You better not have snuck in here without even a text to say you were coming.”
Jackson. Of course, rolling my eyes I spotted him at the top of the west wing staircase with his arms crossed, giving him a half smile as I continued on my way.
“Sometimes, I don’t want anyone to know I’m here.”
“Should have thought of that before you drove up here on that loud machine of yours. But don’t worry, I told everyone to just leave you be as I’m sure you have a perfectly good reason to show up here, especially when Sophia has called the council.”
“Has she now?” I looked at him feigning shock and smiled, “Where is she holding the meeting?”
“Her office, I believe. Only a few have been able to attend as it was ‘so last minute.'”
Smiling a sinister smile, I knew what she was playing at. Sophia often tried to take control of the house and the order, ever since I was given the job as head of the family and until my death, I couldn’t be removed from my position.
Turning on my heel and heading towards Sophia’s office, I listened carefully to the low voices coming from the room, and as I pushed the door open, they silenced themselves quickly.
“Well, this is nice. Do tell, Miss Fox, what brings some of the council here? And, especially without their leader?”
Strolling into the room, Sophia froze as the council members lowered their eyes to the floor. Clearly, I had caught them as though they were deer in headlights.
“Oh, don’t stop on my account, please carry on your important conversation.”
Sitting in front of Sophia’s desk as she stood from her seat opposite, she cleared her throat, and then looked at Jackson giving him the most disgusting look I had ever seen. He just waved and gave her back a cheeky smile.
“We, we – Well, we were discussing…” She was too shocked to speak as she tried to come up with a lie.
“We were discussing the fire, Miss Van Helsing.” Said one of the members.
The voice belonged to John Johnson, one of the elders and someone who had been a part of the council even before my mother and father took over. Typical, it would be the older one conspiring against me. It was always the same, and I wished with all my cold heart that he would just curl over and die.
“What about it?” I asked, resting my legs onto the table, leaning back, and getting a little more comfortable.
"Miss Fox was just saying how we should up the protection and guards here.”
“I believe we have already done that.” Jackson piped up.
“Werewolves were spotted at our borders two nights ago, and they have begun prowling. We are worried about the safety of our recruits, and we still haven’t discovered who attacked you.”
