Clay rolled his eyes. Then he smiled and got up from his desk. “Congratulations, man,” he said as they went in for a bro hug.
The rest of their team offered their smiling congratulations as well. Tiffany came up and squeezed his neck almost painfully hard.
“Does this mean Miguel will be bringing us cupcakes on a regular basis?” she asked when she pulled away.
Hector laughed. “I’ll ask him and see what he says.”
The conversation quickly turned to what kind of cake they should have at their wedding. Hector was clueless. As long as it didn’t have coconut, he’d eat whatever. Eventually the conversation died down, and Hector returned to his desk to study the details for the warrants they were serving today. He hadn’t been sitting down long when his phone beeped with a text.
“I’ve got so many ideas for our wedding. I need at least a year to plan, but I don’t want to do rustic fall. It’s so played out. What about a midnight wedding and reception for New Year’s? Oh my god, I love that! Say you love it.”
Hector laughed. He started typing “I love it.” But by the time he hit send, Miguel had already sent off another long text.
“We don’t have to do it actually at midnight. I just thought a champagne toast would be nice. Start our new lives together right at the start of the new year. Of course, that would mean it would take a little longer than a year but not by much. That’s okay, right?”
Jody came out of her office just as Hector finished reading the text. They’d be heading out soon, but Hector had a feeling the texts were going to go on for a while. “Baby, a New Year’s wedding sounds amazing. But we’re about to go serve warrants, so I have to turn my phone off, okay? Te amo.” He waited for Miguel’s response.
This message was short. “Love you too!” followed by an engagement ring and a rainbow row of hearts popped up on the screen.
Hector laughed and turned off his phone. He could only imagine how many messages would be waiting for him when he finally turned it back on.
“I made a Pinterest board!”
Home from work, Hector walked into his apartment and closed the door. He wasn’t surprised to see Miguel there excitedly waiting for him. But he didn’t have a clue what a Pinterest board was. “A what?”
“It’s like an online scrapbook. I saved all the pictures of stuff I like for the wedding on one page so we can look at it together.”
That didn’t sound like something Hector was interested in, but he’d do it for Miguel. “That sounds great.” Miguel clearly doubted his sincerity because he rolled his eyes.
“And I picked up sub sandwiches so we can eat while we look.”
“That sounds even better.”
Miguel stretched up on his toes to kiss Hector’s cheek. “Go put your stuff up and come eat.”
Ten minutes later, they sat on the couch, eating dinner. The laptop was on the table in front of them, Miguel leaning forward every so often to scroll the screen up.
“I definitely want to do something in the evening because the candlelight looks so pretty. But I don’t want to do those giant candelabras. I was thinking more groupings of candles on the table surrounded by floral wreaths. They should have pinecones for sure if we do winter. What’s a winter flower we could use?”
Wanting to contribute, Hector racked his brain, trying to think of something. “How ‘bout poinsettia?”
“Yes! We could spray paint them black and dip the tips in gold and silver glitter. Very New Year’s Eve bash.” Finished eating, Miguel put his plate on the table and pulled the computer onto his lap. He quickly typed “glitter poinsettia” into the search bar and a page full of results popped up. “Ooh! See? That’s what I mean.”
As he looked at the screen, Hector had to admit that the glittery plants did look nice. “I like that idea.”
Miguel smiled happily. “That’s because you have good taste. For wedding attire, I was thinking velvet tuxedo jackets in complementary colors.”
They looked through Pinterest for a good while. Hector was caught up by Miguel’s enthusiasm and enjoyed finding things to pin more than he’d thought he would. But when he’d had his fill of centerpieces and velvet tux jackets, he leaned over and gave Miguel a kiss. He deepened it slowly, until Miguel barely noticed when he closed the laptop and pushed it off to the side. After a few minutes, Miguel eased back to look at him with an eyebrow raised.
“You know you’re not going to be able to distract me with kisses every time I talk wedding stuff.”
“I know. But I think it’s working just fine tonight. Don’t you?” He rubbed the flat of his palm over the bulge straining against Miguel’s pants.
“Yeah,” Miguel breathlessly answered. “Just fine.”
“Good.” Hector continued with the kissing and the rubbing until Miguel made a frustrated little noise and climbed onto his lap. Hector pressed his face to the side of Miguel’s throat and breathed a laugh into his soft skin. He stood up with his boyfriend in his arms. Miguel’s legs went around his waist, and Hector carried him into the bedroom.
On the bed, Hector pulled Miguel’s pants and briefs down. Miguel was already worked up so Hector got right to the point. He licked the head of his lover’s cock a few times, then down the shaft to get him wet before he sucked him into his mouth. He hadn’t been very good at this in the beginning of their relationship. But he’d practiced. And practice made perfect. Or if not perfect, good enough to have his fiancé writhing beneath him while moaning his name. He sucked Miguel with long pulls of his mouth, taking him right up to the edge. Then he stopped, only to move down and drag his tongue over the taut skin of his sac.
