When I got that call from Remi, I knew exactly what I was going to do. I knew Molly would never feel comfortable living among the members of the Dawnbreakers club. Maybe someday we could go and visit. But even if that was never a possibility, I had made peace with that.

I arrived at the clinic to a small gathering of people. I walked in with a fresh flower in my hand, which Molly had told me was one that was severely underrated. Congratulating the happy couple, I made my way through the people gathered, pulling Remi to the side as soon as I saw her.

I had Torch send me everything I needed weeks ago and had been waiting for a sign of sorts for what I should do next. So when Remi called me, all the pieces fell into place. I knew exactly what to do.

“I have something I want to donate to the clinic.” I said as I handed over the paperwork.

As Remi’s eyes trailed over everything, I continued, “I thought I needed to hold on to an old dream, a version of my life that I thought was the only way. But now I know that isn’t true. I thought I was building it for her…”

Remi locked eyes with me, studying my face as I continued, “But I know now we could never go back. That life is over and I am more than okay with it… especially knowing that the house I built will do good. Will help someone like Bex in the future.”

Remi’s eyes were glassy, “This is an incredible gift, are you sure?”

My phone buzzed in my pocket, I grabbed it, the screen lighting up with messages.

Molly

I know what I want Declan.

And that is you.

I don’t want to decide on a future for us to share on my own… I want to figure it out together.

I want to explore and learn with you.

I want to leave both of our pasts where they belong and find a place that we both love.

A picture of her with bags packed on my porch loaded, she had the biggest smile on her face.

I am ready when you are.

I love you.

I looked up and found Remi watching me with a soft smile on her face.

I whispered, “I am sure.”

Remi squealed, "Well, what are you waiting for... go get your girl."

And I did.

I drove straight until I got back to her.

Molly walked out of the house I had rented when she heard my SUV pull up, a breathtaking smile on her face.

I rushed towards her, “What about Marvin and Trevor?”

She brushed my hair from my forehead, smiling up at me. “I said goodbye. It was time that we all moved on. I will forever be grateful for everything they did for me. But if I stayed, I think part of me would always be stuck in the past.”

I pushed my hand into her hair at the nape of her neck, angling her head back so I could kiss her the way I have been wanting since I got her message.

When we finally pulled apart, she looked almost dizzy, her lips and cheeks flushed red.

“Where are we going, baby?”

Molly smiled, turned and grabbed my hand pulling me into the house. She brought me into the kitchen where she had a map laid out on the table.

She stepped towards it brushing her hands across the surface, then looked over her shoulder at me, “I thought maybe we could pick a spot on the map and just go. Find the best fairs, farmers markets, find out if we like shellfish from the coast, if cheese steaks really are better in philly…”
