“I do,” he says simply.

“I will cause you actual pain if you hurt her, and I am dead fucking serious. She has been hurt by every single guy she has been with or dated, and you better not make it on the list of assholes who tried to break her. I will choose her every time,” Sable says. “If you treat her like every other woman you have fucked around with, I will kick your ass. She deserves to be treated like a Queen. If you aren’t willing to be her King, then walk away.”

“Sable, darling. I have no intention of hurting her or disrespecting her. We have laid out our boundaries.”

“So, are you dating?” Sable asks.

“Well, that hasn’t been specifically stated,” he says.

“Then go ahead and state it because the one thing we are not going to be doing is treating her like a side piece. I know losing Mom made it hard for you to commit, but I’ll be damned if I let you lead her into thinking that she has a future with you when you won’t settle down with anyone,” Sable says as she points to me. When Marc looks at me and smiles, it melts me like butter.

“Come here,” Marc says holding his hands out for me to take. When I lay my hands in his, he pulls me closer and then cups my face.

“If you ask me to go steady, I’m going to laugh at you,” I say with a sweet smile.

“Brat,” he chuckles. “Do you want us to date?”

“Yes,” I say honestly.

“Then, Raven, will you be my girlfriend?” he asks softly.

“I would love that,” I say happily. Marc kisses me softly then wraps his arms around me.

“Does this mean I can call you Mommy now?” Sable asks, feigning an innocent smile.

“Please don’t,” I say and Marc laughs.

“I was going to say we could have a movie night, but I think it’s only fair that you two spend some time together. I can share,” Sable says. “I’m going to catch an Uber home.”

“You’re not getting an Uber,” Marc frowns at her. “I’ll drive you home.”

“So do I get an Uber then?” I ask and Sable laughs.

“I don’t think Dad understands just how much of a brat you really are,” she says. “Oh... I assume we are not telling Allen?”

“No,” Marc and I say in unison.

“Didn’t think so,” Sable says as we walk toward Marc’s car. “I’ll be your cover. It's not the first time we’ve covered for each other.”

“What?” Marc asks, looking at me.

“Don’t look at me,” I laugh. “You’ll lose this battle. I won’t give up shit.”

“We’ll see,” he smirks as he opens the passenger door.

“Are you claiming me for the rest of the night or something?” I ask as I sit.

“Pretty sure he just did that,” Sable says. “Which reminds me... is your cervix okay?”

“Not at all,” I laugh.

“My morbid curiosity is going to be the death of me,” she says from the back seat.

“Not with me here, please,” Marc says as he starts the car.

“Plug your ears then. I have to know something,” Sable says.

“You annoy me sometimes, Sable,” Marc laughs.
