He had a point there. She was too young. Maybe her being with Young Blood made more sense. Maybe he was the one she should be spending time with.
“Well tell him to catch us up.” I barked it at him. My voice rough as I threw my leg over the bike. Now more than ever I wanted to be on the road. I needed to put some miles between me and Chelsea.
If she was fucking with Young Blood I really needed to get out of town.
Someone was going to get hurt today. I just didn’t know who it was going to be.
It was best for Chelsea if I wasn’t around her now because I didn’t want it to be her.
“Tell him…” the wind caught my words and blew them away as I tore off down the road.
****
“What the fuck is wrong with you?” My brother slid into the booth next to me with a scowl. He had every right to be angry. I had taken off without a backwards glance. Leaving Truth and Ruin to catch up with me. I hadn’t stopped until I had put at least a hundred miles between me and Chelsea.
I had let the road eat up my anger.
If Chelsea was fucking around with Young Blood what right did I have to be pissed? She only had my word for it that I wasn’t sleeping with Melody. I couldn’t blame her if she thought I was playing her. I couldn’t fucking blame her if she wanted to find someone who was willing to show her off. I hated it but I couldn’t blame her.
“Nothing.”
“Bullshit brother.” My brother’s eyes met mine over the table. We both had our fathers eyes. “Tell me what the hell is going on with you? Because something is. You and Melody good?”
The question was comical. Were me and Melody good? That was a trick question seeing as our whole relationship was a joke.
Shrugging I turned towards the window. I could see Ruin pulling up His bike next to ours.
“You and Ruin have a falling out? I know you and Avery don’t always see eye to eye.”
Tearing my eyes away from Ruin I glared at my brother. It was common knowledge that Avery hadn’t been my favourite person when she had rocked back into town but Ruin loved her. “I like Avery just fine so no me and Ruin haven’t had words. I’ve barely ….” something caught my attention. Another bike had pulled up alongside ours.
Young Blood and Ruin were stood together, and if the frown on Ruins face was anything to go by it wasn’t a pleasant conversation.
Ignoring my brother totally I headed towards the door. Neither of them looked up even when the glass door bounced off the wall.
“So you aren’t hooking up with my sister?” Ruins voice was deadly quiet. “Then why are you suddenly all over her?”
For a moment Young Blood looked guilty. His eyes darted towards me. “She needed a friend Ruin. I can’t tell you any more than that.” He shook his head.
He was hiding something. And I wasn’t the only one to realise it. Ruins eyebrows slammed down. “If something is going on with Chelsea then I need to know….” it was pretty clear that he was losing his temper.
“It’s not my fucking secret to tell Ruin. She got herself into trouble and I helped her sort it out. I’m her friend. That’s all.” Again Young Bloods eyes darted towards me.
“She got herself into trouble?” Ruin muttered.
“Well fuck.” Truth was shaking his head. And that’s when it hit me. Young Blood had used very specific words.
Chelsea had got herself into trouble.
“Are you saying my sister is pregnant?” Ruin whispered. “And you helped her book a …..”
I didn’t hear him finish. Running towards my bike I didn’t even turn when they started calling my name.
Would Chelsea get rid of our kid if she was pregnant? Could I really mean so little to her?
As my bike started eating up the miles, I knew that my reaction was going to be a problem but I just didn’t care.
I had played the games for too long. I had fought it, lied about it and in the end, all it did was make me miserable. It was time I took ownership of what I wanted. And I wanted Chelsea.
