“Who can’t take his eyes off of who?” Truth pulled me on to his lap. His arms loose around my waist but still staking his claim anyway.

He liked to do that. Stake his claim. And I really didn’t mind.

Avery opened her mouth to say something and snapped it shut when I shot her a look.

“No one.”

Truths eyebrows pinched together. He hated lying and it was pretty obvious that Avery wasn’t telling him something. For a second I thought he was going to push the matter. Then he shrugged his shoulders, his arms tightening. “Keep your secrets then ladies.”

He pressed his lips to my neck. “For now.”

I knew it wasn’t over. He wouldn’t drop it. But how the hell was I meant to tell him that Wicked, the brother he looked up to was making eyes at a girl that he could never have. And if he did end up making a move it would get him killed?

“I can’t believe you two are here.” With a groan, Gemma flopped into the seat opposite. Kicking off her shoes under the table. “I honestly thought your men would have taken you somewhere more romantic than this dump on Valentine’s Day?” Reaching out she wrapped her hand around my drink, taking a sip before I could stop her. Her little upturned nose crinkled. “That’s just cola.” She said the words like I was drinking the blood of a newborn baby. “Why the hell aren’t you drinking?”

I grimaced. She was talking too loudly. Over at the bar Truth raised his head from where he was talking to his brother, his eyebrows raised.

“I just don’t feel like it.” The lie slipped out easily. I hated lying to my friends but we had agreed to keep it a secret for now.

And anyway sitting in Cooks was not how I imagined dropping that certain piece of news on everyone.

“I’m on antibiotics and ….” I didn’t get to finish as Gemma sat forward. Motioning for me and Avery to follow suit. “You know you can tell us everything right?”

Avery nodded eagerly

Jesus, I hated lying to them. Even by omission.

“Hey, Cali.” Wicked was suddenly there, but again he barely looked at me. Instead, his eyes were all about Gemma. He appraised her up and down in a way that was unmistakable.

Whatever had been going on earlier with Chelsea was over now. Gemma was Wickeds prey for the night.

I caught Avery’s eye, the question clear. What the hell was going on?

She shrugged, she didn’t know either.

Chapter Three

Truth

My brother was acting odd.

Cali was acting odd.

Every fucker and their dog was acting odd tonight and no one seemed to want to tell me what the hell was going on.

I hated secrets and lies. And the fact I was keeping not just one but two myself was eating me up inside.

Still, I knew that these secrets were good ones. Whatever it was that was eating Cali and Wicked, didn’t look good. Cali looked worried and Wicked? Well, Wicked was acting like something was eating him up inside.

“Baby.” Moving the hair from Cali’s cheek I lowered my lips to her ear, letting the smell of her perfume fill my lungs. She always smelt so damn good. Even when she was sweaty and in need of a shower she smelt good enough to eat.

It wasn’t fair.

“Mmhmm.” She wiggled her ass against my crotch and my hand came down hard on her thigh. I wanted to bury my hand under the skirt of her short dress but we didn’t have a table in front of us to hide her from view. And I wasn’t sure how she would feel about putting on a show.

Hell, I wasn’t even sure I could handle people seeing her face like that let alone her pussy.
