Chapter Four
Judge
DEMOLITION, FURY, ANDVulture were finally allowed back to see Razer yesterday after a few hours of waiting. They identified his body and spent some time saying their goodbyes to him while the rest of us remained in a private waiting room. The room was silent as we all sat and thought of the brother we just lost.Fury came out wrecked as his dad held him up and he walked like a damn zombie.I’ve never seen my best friend so thoroughly broken since we met.Fury has always been the strong one in any given situation. He’s been a rock to each of us as we deal with various issues in our lives. Now, we all have to be the strong ones for him, his dad, and his uncle as they mourn Razer. We’re all going to mourn the loss of such a great man, but it’s going to hit them so much harder than any of us.Fury had years with his brother and was there from the day he was born.It will never be enough time for him. They were best friends growing up, enemies when they fought, and a stabilizing unit when they both felt so alone in the world. Now, he has to bury his younger brother and there’s nothing we can say or do to help him get through this.
It was the middle of the night when we finally got Fury to leave the hospital.I didn’t let him ride his bike.Tristan had one of the club’s SUVs and gave him a ride back to the clubhouse in that.We surrounded them and made sure someone was riding next to Vulture and Demolition because neither one of them would give up the fight to ride their bikes back.I wasn’t about to argue with either one of them or issue demands as the club’s President. If they felt steady and strong enough to ride, I was gonna let them.Fury is in no shape to ride his bike. So, I rode it back to the compound while Zach rode mine.Tristan and him are the only two I trust to ride my bike because I’m closer to them than the other Prospects. Both of them work for me at the garage and I know how they are with bikes and other vehicles.
So many questions have been running through my mind since I got that phone call.I want to know what really happened to cause the fire.Razer has always taken care of his bikes and vehicles. He’s obsessive about performing routine maintenance, having us check them over once a month, and taking care of any issues he finds. Then I start to wonder how this accident could have been prevented and what could have been done differently. It’s a never ending loop causing me to lose sleep as I sat up with Fury in his drunken state.Yeah, he grabbed two bottles of alcohol the second we got back to the clubhouse and made his way to Razer’s room.He sat on his bed drinking until he finally passed out.My best friend didn’t say a single word to me or anyone else who came to check on him. He’s out of his mind with grief and I’m truly scared we’re going to lose him because of this.
The only thing we know of for sure is that Greyson was involved in whatever happened. He’s always been reckless as hell and has hurt himself so many damn times since he was brought into the club.Vulture found him one afternoon trying to steal food from one of the diners in town that have tables outside in the summer. He was wearing clothes full of holes and caked in grime.Greyson looked rough as hell. The kid was a bean pole and never once thought through his actions before doing anything. We found out he grew up rich as hell and his parents constantly bailed him out of everything he got in trouble for.For some reason, they had enough of it and kicked him out along with cutting off all access to his money.Greyson had to learn how to live on his own really quick.Instead of getting a job like he should have, the kid chose to steal while living on the streets.Vulture saw something in him none of the rest of us did. Now, I don’t know how he feels about sponsoring him to become a Prospect.
I’m sitting in the common room with a cup of coffee that’s gone cold when Fury walks downstairs. He’s still wearing the same clothes from yesterday and he’s a mess. The man walking toward me doesn’t resemble Fury at all. He’s a shell of his former self already and I don’t know what it will take to help him.
“Coffee,” he says to Tristan behind the bar as he takes a seat next to me.“Hear anythin’ else while I was passed out?”
“Not yet.I called the fire chief this mornin’ and Officer Arnold said everythin’ is still under investigation.Things are a lot harder because there’s essentially no evidence left,” I inform him as Tristan hands over two mugs of coffee while taking my old one with him.
“I got somethin’,” Ice says, walking in the common room from the back hallway.“The girl who was taken to the hospital yesterday with Razer has been admitted to the hospital. She’ll be there for a few days from what I can find.Tried callin’ and they won’t give me any information because I’m not family.Don’t even know her name at this point.”
“The papers from her car are in Judge’s office.I knew you guys would want information on her so I grabbed them when we dropped her car off at the garage and placed them right next to your computer,” Tristan speaks up as I stand with Fury and we head for the office.
“Fury, I know you’re gonna want to go see this girl. You fuckin’ stink and will scare her if you go now.Take a shower while I find out her name so we can give it to the front desk. You’re not goin’ anywhere until you shower.I’ll call your dad and uncle to let them know while you do that,” I order my best friend as he looks down. It’s like he’s just realizing he’s still in yesterday’s clothes and reeks of the alcohol he consumed throughout the night.
Fury turns and heads upstairs to his room while I go in the office and pick up the paperwork Tristan left for me.It’s in an envelope and I know he would have left it closed as I open it and pull out insurance cards for the car.The girl’s name is Wren Thompson. Can it be the same Wren from that night? My heart starts to race with the possibility of seeing her again.I don’t know what the hell is going on with me when it comes to this girl. She makes me feel things I’ve ever experienced in my life and I don’t think I like it.Images of her legs wrapped around my waist instantly fill my mind and I take in the way her long hair shimmered under the dim lighting in the bathroom. Those baby blue streaks appeared and disappeared as if they were playing a game with every move of her head. Her moans and the way she screamed my name.Fuck! The last thing I need is a hard dick when I leave my office.Diamond is in the common room and she’s fucking obsessed with the officers in the club.
Sliding the insurance card back in the envelope, I leave it on my desk and make a mental note to return everything to the woman’s car before she realizes we took it out.Just because the name is the same doesn’t mean it’s the same girl from that night. It’s just a coincidence. At least that’s what I’m telling myself as I adjust myself in my jeans and pull out my phone to let Demolition and Vulture know we’re heading to the hospital so Fury can talk to the girl. They’re already on the compound at Demolition’s house and let me know they’re on their way over to meet us.
“Tristan, you’re ridin’ out with us.I don’t care what happened, but this girl tried to save Razer.I want her protected while she’s in the hospital.Anythin’ else that happens is up to Fury, Demolition, and Vulture,” I order the young kid I found months ago as a homeless teenager.
“Okay.I’ll have Zach take my place behind the bar if that’s okay with you,” he says and I nod in response as Fury makes his way back downstairs already showered and changed into clean clothes.
“Ready to head out?”he asks me as Ice and Carver join us.
“Waitin’ on Tristan to get back. He’ll be on guard duty while she’s in the hospital.I want her safe since she tried to help one of our own,” I inform him as Demolition and Vulture walk in the front door.
We all head out to our bikes and Tristan runs over to his at the very end of the line.Starting our engines after wrapping our bandanas around our faces and sliding our helmets on, we pull out.I’m not looking forward to this trip at all because it’s going to hurt my best friend. We don’t know what this girl knows about the incident, but it’s going to slay him.I don’t have to know anything about the incident to realize that.Any new information is only going to hurt us all.

Pulling into the hospital, we park near the entrance and slowly get off our bikes.None of us are in a hurry to enter the same building we just got horrible news less than twenty-four hours ago.Fury stares at the building as we all step up next to him in silent support. He’s already got tears in his eyes as Demolition and I rest a hand on his shoulders.Fury’s head drops and his eyes close.I can see him trying to take deep, even breaths while he fights to contain the tears that want to escape. This is so much harder than he thought it would be.I know him well enough to realize he thought he’d just go in there and talk to the girl who spent Razer’s last moments with him.
