Chapter Twelve

Judge

THE CLUBHOUSE IS overflowingwith people.Music is blaring from the speakers inside so loud I’m surprised anyone can have a conversation. It’s nothing new though. So many clubs have shown up to say goodbye to Razer and it makes me feel good to know so many people wanted to make him feel special and loved even if he’s not here to see it in person.I’ve tried my best to keep an eye on Wren, but I lost her a while ago.Death, Talon, and Lash were with me and blocking my view as I stood at the back of the common room and I lost sight of her.I’m not about to ask anyone else where she is either.Everyone already thinks I want more from here than what I do.If I start asking where she is, it’s going to lead to more questions I can’t answer. Not because I don’t want to, but because I can’t.I don’t honestly know how I feel about the tiny woman, but I know that I want to fuck her again.More than likely, that’s all I’m feeling toward her.I can’t get her out of my mind because sex with Wren felt better than anything I’ve ever felt in my life.Considering it was her first time, means it’s only going to get better each time I’m with her.At least in my mind that’s how it works.

“She’s not goin’ to the funeral.Tristan asked her when I was at the bar waitin’ on a drink,” I hear my brother Talon say as I look at him.“She feels as if she’ll be intrudin’ on somethin’ special and it’s not her place to be there. The woman tried to save his life.If anyone deserves to be there, it’s her.”

“What are you talkin’ about?”I ask my brother as Gramps makes his way over to us with a bottle of water in his hand.

“Wren isn’t goin’ to Razer’s funeral. She wants to stay here and rest instead,” Talon informs me as if I’m stupid as hell in that condescending way he has at times.

“She’ll be there,” I state as if my word is law when it comes to her.I know that’s the farthest thing from the truth, but I’ll get her there.

“No, she won’t.Personally, I don’t think she needs to be there. She’s still not healed all the way and all that standin’ or sittin’ in hard chairs might be too much for her back and leg.Yeah, she saved Razer and deserves to be there with the rest of us.She might not know him the way we did, but he would want her there for his final send off.Wren has already made up her mind and there won’t be any changin’ it.I don’t know a lot about her, but I do know she’s stubborn as hell,” Death adds when no one else speaks up and I turn my attention to him.

“If you want to get her to go, Tristan and Zach are the two who will make it happen,” Lash states as he takes a long pull of his beer while looking across the common room at his wife where she stands with the other ol’ ladies.

“They don’t have that much influence over her,” I say and they all start laughing their asses off.

“Keep thinkin’ that, Judge. Those Prospects are the only ones who will ever get Wren to change her mind about anythin’.She doesn’t want to disappoint them or make them upset if she can help it.Not only is there a mutual respect between the three of them and a shared past, but there’s the love shared between family. Those two will always see themselves as her younger brothers and won’t ever change how they feel about her. They’re protective, take care of her, and look up to Wren. You see them as bein’ too close to her and lovin’ her in a way they don’t.That’s not the truth of their situation.Pull your head outta your ass and see their relationship for what it is,” Fury says, walking up to join our group and the anger from yesterday fills me all over again.

“She’s outside with Demolition right now,” Talon informs me as I look at him and he nods toward the front door.“Tristan took her outside earlier for some fresh air and she hasn’t come back in yet.Demolition went out not long after that.”

Without another word, I head for the front of the clubhouse and open the door.A bunch of people have made their way outside in the front and back of the clubhouse and are standing around in small groups.I can hear stories of Razer being shared among them and smile because everyone has a fond word to say about the man we’ll all miss the rest of our lives. As I wander through the parking lot, I notice Wren and Demolition off to the side at a picnic table all alone. It’s not near the other ones as they talk. From what I can see, it’s a serious conversation and I wonder if he’s trying to get her to change her mind about tomorrow.I hope he does, but if the guys are right, Demolition is wasting his breath.

Slowly, I make my way over toward the table they’re sitting at.A few people greet me and I stop for a minute to say a few words to them. The entire time, my eyes don’t ever stray away from Wren.I watch her hug Demolition as he returns the gesture of comfort.I don’t linger in the groups as I continue making my way over to the table at a much slower pace than I should. This shit is making me feel crazy because I don’t know what the hell is going on with me.

“That day, I didn’t know I was pregnant when I tried to save Razer.I’d had no symptoms or anything to indicate that’s what I was going to hear in the hospital when I woke up and the doctor came in to see me,” I hear Wren say as anger fills me for an entirely different reason.

“What the fuck did you just say? You’re pregnant, Wren?”I question, stepping up closer behind them and folding my arms over my chest as Demolition stands up between the two of us as if I’m about to hurt her.

“Don’t take that fuckin’ tone with her, Judge. You got somethin’ to say, you sit down like a normal fuckin’ man and have a conversation with her.If you’re angry, take a walk and cool the fuck down before you approach her again.I won’t have her hurt by you or anyone else here,” Demolition warns me as I look at the man I’ve respected for so long.

“You think I’m gonna put my fuckin’ hands on her or somethin’?”I question Demolition as he glares at me.“I’ve never hit a woman in my life and it won’t start with Wren. It’s becomin’ clear we have some things to talk about, but it won’t be with a damn audience.”

“There are different ways to hurt another person, Judge. You know that shit better than anyone else.If you say one wrong word or use the wrong tone with her, I’ll beat your ass, and keep you away from her.I’ll get Wren out of here so fast your head will spin and you won’t know where she is,” Demolition promises me before he moves away but remains close.
