“Everything is all set up for you,” Lars said. He walked to the door and then paused. Adew silently groaned, hoping he wasn’t going to ask to stay. “You’ll get over him.”
Adew’s heart clenched painfully at his words.
“Of course,” Adew said, going for cheerful. But his voice sounded like he was drowning.
Lars stared at him. Adew could feel the pity oozing from the alpha. He closed his eyes praying for the torture to stop. He was making him feel worse.
“I know of a way to cheer you up,” Lars suddenly announced.
“How?”
“I’ll see you tomorrow. Get some rest,” he waved to him and opened the door.
“You can’t leave me hanging like that. If there is a way to stop this...” Adew rubbed his chest. Fuck, his heart ached.
“Hang in there,” his manager laughed and slammed the door shut. Adew couldn’t believe Lars left him like that. When the door opened again, he thought it was him. “I knew you’d drag your ass back in here,” he said, then bit his bottom lip when he saw Urim. The omega stood at the door looking uncomfortable. He wasn’t the only one. Urim stared at him with his dewy eyes. They looked puffy and swollen.
Shit, he’d been crying. This was a fucking mess.
“Urim, listen…”
Urim lifted his hand to silence him. “Are you really going to do this?”
“I’m sorry. I…” shit…Adew walked to him and pulled him into his arms. “I’m so sorry.”
Urim buried his face in his chest and cried all over again. Adew held him tight and soothed him as best as he could. He never meant to hurt him.
“I ended up hurting you no matter how hard I tried not to.”
“Did you love me?”
“I did. I still do. But not the way I should.” He pulled back and stared down at him. “An alpha who loves you would give up everything for you. He wouldn’t make you wait for years to give you what you need.” Adew wiped away his tears. “You’re a lovely omega. You’ll find an alpha who’ll give you what you need.”
“That alpha has always been you, Adew. I don’t know what to do without you. I feel so lost right now.”
“I’m the asshole who made you wait. Don’t forget that.”
Urim pulled out of his arms. “I guess this is goodbye then…”
“You don’t have to move out,” Adew said.
“I don’t think I can stay. You’re right about one thing, I lived for you. I was always waiting for you.” He wiped away his tears and smiled. Though it was a tiny smile, it still gave Adew hope that Urim would be fine. “I want to find myself. I don’t even know the kind of food I like. I was so wrapped up in you, I forgot about myself.”
He knew that’s what happened. But his words hurt a little. They reminded him of how much of an asshole he’d been to him.
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be. It was my fault too. Have a good life, Adew, I mean that,” he said, and walked out of his room.
“Take care, Urim,” Adew mumbled to the empty room. He turned and walked to the WAB stand. He unstrapped himself and got into bed. The next day, Lars arrived bright and early. And overly cheerful.
Adew groaned as he pulled him out of bed, and stood over him while he bathed, got dressed and sat down for breakfast.
“Your excitement is giving me hives,” he told him as they walked outside to the waiting pod.
Lars just laughed and got inside the pod.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?” Adew asked.
