Nylune
And as the days went by Nylune became more than addicted, he was obsessed with Adew Pax. He had to pinch himself every time to remind himself that it wasn’t real. That Adew wasn’t his true alpha; they were just taking what they needed from each other. At this point, he didn’t even know what that was. He just knew he loved spending time with him. From the moment they’d decided to be with each other, their lives seemed to click into place seamlessly as if Adew had always been there. Nylune shared his morning heat with him and went to work in his office for his second heat while Adew did his exercises, if he hadn’t gone to the health centre. They ate lunch together, after which he returned to work for his third heat. Once he got off work, his every minute was spent with him.
Though Nylune was yet to share a room with him. He felt like that would be taking their fake relationship a little too far. He needed that barrier to remind him that it wasn’t real.
But everything else was perfect. They talked, ate together, and played with Calla in the backyard. Well, Adew played with him while Nylune tried his best not to scream when the okie came too close to him.
He was still scared of the animal, but he was slowly getting used to him. It helped that the okie liked him for some reason and he got to enjoy his soothing humming. Nylune was coming to realise that he’d misjudged the okie. He was realising a lot of things about Adew too. He wasn’t an asshole; it was a defence mechanism. He pushed people away because it was hard for him to adjust to his life now. Being a UA fighter was everything to him. He didn’t know who he was without it, and it was clear in the way he was frustrated with himself, when his body didn’t respond the way he wanted it to. His body was healing; he was just too impatient to get there.
Which was understandable. There was talk in the media that he might make a return to UA soon; the planet was slowly going into a frenzy. Nylune tried to ignore it. It had nothing to do with him. But Hazi wouldn’t let him. He connected with him every chance he got, asking for the scoop on his favourite UA fighter.
One night as they lay in bed, out of curiosity and because Hazi wouldn’t leave him alone, Nylune asked Adew, “Are you planning to go back?”
“Yes,” he’d simply said. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted. I don’t know what I would do if I had to give it up. I would go crazy.”
“Okay,” Nylune had said.
Adew grasped his chin to force him to look at him. “You sound like you have more to say.”
“No. I have nothing more to say. Only that if anyone can do it, it is you. You are strong enough to do it. Just trust yourself because I don’t have a weak alpha.”
“You have a strong alpha, huh?” Adew had growled, pushing him to his back. Nylune shivered as he went easily.
“Yes. He’s everything I’ve ever wanted. He makes me feel good,” Nylune had said, arching into him. And Adew proceeded to make him feel better than good. He made him feel amazing. Every day with him was amazing, making Nylune yearn for things he shouldn’t.
Nylune tried hard not to think about it and focused on his healing, even though he wasn’t sure the experiment was working. He hoped so, since he had started feeling some minor changes in his body, though he wasn’t sure whether they were real or not. It could be because Adew was there and he didn’t have to go crazy yearning for what he needed when he only had to beg him and call him alpha to get it.
Nylune blushed as he watched Adew in his backyard with his manager. The alpha was breath-taking, from the top of his smooth head to his feet. His long shirt and matching pants were loose around his body to accommodate the WAB, but he still looked gorgeous.
“Alpha,” Nylune whispered, wanting to experience the thrill of calling him his alpha again. He’d called him alpha a few hours ago when they were together, but he couldn’t seem to get enough. “My alpha,” he said again. Adew turned towards the window as if he’d heard him. His lips spread into a stunning smile, taking his breath away. Nylune waved to him, feeling gooey inside.
I’ve fallen for him, haven’t I? Nylune asked as he blushed, turning away just as the doorbell chimed. Nylune made his way to the door and checked the screen. He wrenched the door open when he saw Dr Micha out there.
“You seem excited to see me. Is everything okay?” Dr Micha asked as he stepped into the house.
“I’m actually nervous,” Nylune said, wringing his hands. This was the moment he’d been waiting for, but now that it was here, he wasn’t sure if he wanted to hear what Dr Micha might have found.
“You don’t have to be nervous. You’re getting better. I’m sure you’ve felt it,” the doctor said, excitedly.
Nylune had. He just didn’t trust his body. He’d been in prolonged heat for so long anything else felt strange. “The experiment is working,” Nylune laughed. He jumped into Dr Micha’s arms and hugged him. “Thank you… thank you…” he said, giggling. He dropped down, wiping the wetness from his cheeks. He was even crying.
“You’re welcome. I told you I’d find a cure, no matter what,” Dr Micha said. “Where is Adew, so we can share the good news. I’m sure he would be happy to hear he doesn’t have to sacrifice himself for long.”
Nylune’s smile fell, but he quickly hid his disappointment. “He’s outside. I’ll go call him.” Nylune made his way to the back of the house and stalled when he heard voices coming through the slightly open door.
“Have you told him about Urim?” Lars asked. Nylune felt like that first night when Adew had moved in next door, and he’d eavesdropped on them. That felt like a lifetime ago. “You can’t keep ignoring the omega. He deserves better.”
“What do you want me to do?”
“I don’t know, Adew. I never interfered in your personal life, because its none of my business. But I’m confused,” Lars sighed. “They’re both omegas. You were in love with one of them for years. He waited for you while you fought to make your dream come true. He’s been there for you, yet you rejected him when you needed him the most, only to fall into another omega’s arms after you were adamant that you didn’t want an omega in your life. If you can be with Nylune, why can’t you be with Urim?”
Silence met Lars’s question. Nylune held his breath waiting. He remembered that name. The night Adew fell the omega had tried to connect with him. Nylune had been jealous of the omega at the time because he could be with an alpha like Adew, while he couldn’t. Why did he reject him?
“He’s mine,” Adew said softly.
“What?”
“Nylune. He’s my true mate.”
