“Must you do this? He clearly doesn’t want to live with you. And what’s going to happen once Urim finds out about this? He won’t understand. Fuck, I don’t understand either, and I’m your manager. I should understand what is going on in case something goes wrong. You left Urim because you didn’t want to burden him. But what you’re doing here…”
“It’s not the same thing. Urim wants something I can’t give him. I can’t bond with him. I can’t be his alpha,” Adew said. “If he finds out, I’ll tell him the truth. Nylune and I are nothing to each other. I’m helping him. Once he heals, I’ll be on my way.”
“Are you sure about that?”
“Yes,” Adew said, without a doubt. There was nothing there.
“I need it… please, alpha.”Nylune’s needy voice suddenly filled his mind, making his body tighten.
There was nothing there at all, he told himself as he watched Nylune and the other omega walk to the other couch and sat down. Calla plopped himself at Nylune’s feet.
Traitor, Adew thought, staring at the creature. He was the architect of this mess.
“I didn’t get to introduce myself. I’m Ny’s cousin, Hazi,” the omega said with a bright smile. He seemed to be the only one who was happy that he was there. “I’m a fan.”
Oh, go figure, Adew thought, staring at Nylune, who wouldn’t look at him. You would think he was asking him to bond with him or something.
“What’s the verdict?” he asked. “I don’t have to do this, you know that. Should I leave?”
A vein ticked on his right temple. “This is a bad idea,” Nylune bit out. “But I need you.”
Air rushed out of Adew’s lungs, Nylune’s words hitting him hard.
What the fuck was he doing here? They stared at each other for a few tense seconds. Adew’s chest warmed. He was glad when Nylune’s eyes dropped down so he wouldn’t see how much he affected him.
Lars cleared his throat. “Okay, now that we’re on the same page we’ll have to submit new papers to the council for Calla. Nylune should state that he changed his mind. I suggest you come up with an ironclad reason. And whatever you do, don’t let him go dig another hole,” he suggested, breaking the silence.
“I don’t have a reason except that he’s helping me,” Nylune shrugged.
“Right,” Lars said awkwardly.
“Dr Micha should write a note then, it was his idea,” Adew offered.
Lars clicked his fingers. “That’s perfect. I’ll talk to him.”
“Thanks,” Adew said.
“Now that we have everything settled, we should take your stuff in,” Lars said getting to his feet. Adew could have kissed him for smoothing things over for him.
“Yes,” Hazi said, leading the way. He picked up Adew’s case and walked up the stairs.
Chapter 11
Nylune
“Please, don’t look at me like that,” Nylune said.
“You need to tell him about the claiming mark. Your experiment is moving way too fast,” Hazi said, leaning close to him so Adew and his manager wouldn’t hear them. The two sat at his table, waiting for the lunch Hazi was preparing, because of course he had to. He wouldn’t leave until he’d gushed over Adew Pax to his heart’s content.
“I will. I just…” Nylune wasn’t sure what to say to Adew, and he was afraid he might leave once he knew. Claiming an omega wasn’t a game. And since he caught his scent. There was no other alpha for him. What if he decided to leave?
“You can’t exactly hide it from him.”
“I know.” Nylune covered his face with his hands. “What did Dr Micha get me into?”
“Stop feeling guilty. You didn’t do anything wrong, and you didn’t make him do anything either. Is that why you refused to share a room with him?” Hazi shook his head. “If you’re doing this for your health, you should go all the way. What’s the point of having separate rooms? You’ve already fucked each other.”
“I’m not sharing a bed with him and that’s final,” Nylune said. It would be too intimate. And he didn’t need that right now. “I’ll go to his room when I need him.” A blush warmed his skin at his words. Oh, the things he said now. He never dreamed he would be with an alpha, let alone live with one. Nylune looked over at Adew. Only to find him staring at him. Nylune quickly looked away, a shudder going through him. Living with him was going to be interesting. He hoped they didn’t have to do it for too long, considering… Nylune resisted the urge to touch the fast-healing mark on his neck.
