“What?” Lars moved close to him, snatched his arm and turned him around. “You can’t be serious. You’re moving in with the omega? You know what that means, right?”
“It means I’ll be there to help him when he needs me. Then I’ll leave when he’s healed,” Adew said. “Can you get someone to pack everything for me and close the house?”
Lars stared at him as if he’d gone crazy. “I feel like I’m missing something. I’m gone for four days, and the world goes to shit.”
“It’s not that serious. Relax,” Adew gave his shoulder a pat. He sat on the bed and ate his food. Lars stared at him the whole time. He finished eating and packed a few clothes. He dragged the case to the cooking station, and packed Calla’s food in a container.
“Adew, you can’t be serious,” Lars finally spoke as he walked to the door.
“I might be an asshole, but I won’t walk out on him,” he said, calling his okie. Calla walked to him, and they walked out of the door. He walked the few steps to the house next door. He walked up the steps and knocked. Calla swished his bushy tail excitedly – he wasn’t the only one who was excited. Adew’s heart was beating a mile a minute. He didn’t even notice Lars coming up behind him. The door was opened a few minutes later. Nylune stared at him, clearly confused. A blush tinted his cheek red. And Adew couldn’t help but stare.
“What? What are you doing here? I was going to come to you when it was time,” he said, looking from Adew to the case at his feet, to Calla and then Lars. Someone gasped behind Nylune, and that’s when he saw the other omega there. The omega’s eyes were wide, focused on Calla. “He won’t hurt you,” Nylune said taking his hand and staring pointedly at him.
“He’s right. He won’t hurt you,” Adew confirmed.
“Maybe you should let us in before we start to attract attention,” Lars said.
“Of course,” Nylune said stepping to the side. Adew walked into the house dragging his case. He looked around the house, his eyes landing on the staircase. Of course, there was a staircase. He silently groaned. “What’s going on?” Nylune asked.
“I’m moving in with you.”
“You’re what?” Nylune asked, turning to the other omega. The shock on his face was comical. “What?”
“He said he’s moving in,” the omega answered. He looked a little like Nylune. Adew wondered what he was to him.
“I heard him, but I don’t understand why.”
Adew stepped close to him. Nylune gulped. A tense moment passed between them as he stared up at him. His red lips looked enticing and kissable. He was yet to kiss him… to taste him properly. Adew’s lips tingled because he wanted nothing more than to do that right then. He should have kissed him the first time they were together. But Nylune had been in control then. He took from him, making the first time he let him inside him easy on him. He didn’t have to worry about the how of it. Worry about his body. He took, while he sat there and let him. Now, he wanted. And he knew he could take it because, as broken as he was, Nylune saw him as his alpha – even though he didn’t want to admit it.
Adew grasped his chin. A shiver went through Nylune to cascade down his arm to settle in his stomach.
Fuck…fuck…fuck… feeling Nylune respond to him turned him inside out.
“You got me kicked out of my house, remember? I’m homeless. And since you need me…” Adew trailed off, letting Nylune figure out the rest. He walked to the staircase. “Where is your room?”
“Noooo… you’re not staying here with me. We can’t…” Nylune said, panicking. Calla walked to him and started to hum. The sound startled him, cutting him off. Adew stared at his okie, stunned. He’d never hummed for anyone else. Not even Urim. And he’d spent years with that omega. He’d met Nylune only a few days ago, but it was clear that he liked him.
It would seem Adew wasn’t the only one who was taken by the omega.
“Why does it keep doing that?” Nylune asked, staring down at Calla. “Make it stop.”
“His name is Calla,” Adew said. “And okies hum to soothe members of their pack or individuals they like. And I can’t make him stop. He senses your anxiety. You have to calm down.”
“Maybe we should sit down and have a civilised conversation?” Lars stepped between them. He took his arm and guided him towards the sitting area just off the foyer. Adew sat down on the couch, and stared at Nylune, who remained standing where he’d left him with the other omega. He looked rattled and weary. “What are you doing, man?” Lars asked, as he sat next to him.
Adew rubbed the back of his neck. He didn’t know. But it felt like the right move for him. He couldn’t explain it. It didn’t make sense that he was here – willing to sacrifice his time for an omega he didn’t even know. He wanted to help him, yes, but there was something else there too.
“Adew?”
“I don’t know,” he said without thinking.
“What?”
Nylune and the other omega started to whisper to each other. The omega heatedly pointed at him, while Nylune shook his head.
What were they talking about? He shouldn’t care, but he did.
Fuck, Adew stabbed his fingers into his eyes and rubbed.
