“Nylune?” Dr Micha said following him. He must have caught up with him because Adew heard them talking. “You caught his scent. Even if I find you another alpha, you’ll yearn for him. There’s no other alpha out there for you now. He’s the only one who can help you with your prolonged heat. I know this is experimental at best, but we have to try.”

“But he’s…”

“I know. He’s an asshole. But you need him. If there was another way, Nylune, I would give it to you.”

Asshole? Adew rolled his eyes. Ajin stared at him, and he could see the mirth in his eyes. The bastard was enjoying this too much.

“Take what you need from him and move on with your life. Don’t think about anything but getting back to normal. This is for you. No one else.”

Adew wondered if the doctor knew how selfish that sounded. He wanted him to sacrifice his body, and he wasn’t even considering how he felt. He stared at the door, wishing he could walk up to them and tell them to get the fuck out of his house. But he held his tongue.

They went silent for a few seconds. Adew’s eyes narrowed on the door. What the hell were they doing out there? Why he even cared was beyond him. His heat had him losing his mind.

“You have your fighting face on,” Ajin commented. Adew glanced at him and then back at the door. He was feeling strange too. He fucking wanted to strangle the doctor. His aggression rose inside him. Ajin winced. “I thought you didn’t want the omega.”

He didn’t.

Adew glanced away from the door, taking a deep breath to calm the sudden surge of emotions inside him. He didn’t want any omega. He wasn’t going to bring an omega into his fucked-up life. Ajin stared at him as if he were crazy.

“Are you going to give me the sedative or not?”

“I’m waiting for Dr Micha to decide,” Ajin said.

Of course, Adew thought, his eyes drifting to the door. He hated that he wanted to know what was going on between Nylune and Dr Micha. He didn’t even understand why he cared. The two walked back into the room a few seconds later. The omega barely looked at him as he stood behind Dr Micha. That pissed him off. Adew balled his hands into fists, trying to take control of his strange emotions.

What was this omega doing to him?

Chapter 9

Nylune

He couldn’t believe he was doing this. He was going to have sex with an alpha for the first time in five years. Couldn’t it have been a different alpha? Why did it have to be Adew Pax, of all people? No wonder he was rude and entitled. He was a goddamned UA fighter. And a very successful one. They were considered gods on their planet, especially him and Djohn Moulekk.

Nylune smoothed his hands down his long shirt. He felt nervous and awkward. He stood behind Dr Micha, hiding. It was stupid, he knew, because he had to face the alpha soon. Nylune swallowed because he had to do more than face the alpha. He had to have sex with him. He shivered at the thought of the alpha touching him. He clenched his jaw as his heat burned hotter, despite the pill he’d taken earlier.

Fuck. Why did it have to be him?

Adew cleared his throat. “What’s going to happen now?”

“He’s agreed to you helping him,” Dr Micha said. “You need an omega for your heat. I guess you’ll be helping each other.”

“For how long?”

The room fell silent at his question. A charged tension swirled all around them. Nylune bit the inside of his mouth, embarrassed. He couldn’t believe they were having this conversation, talking about them having sex as if it were nothing. He glanced over Dr Micha’s shoulder to find Adew staring at him. He gasped and looked down at his feet. Goosebumps dotted his skin. The alpha was too much.

“My heat lasts for four days. How long does he need an alpha?”

Dr Micha took a second to answer. “I don’t know. This is experimental. I’ve been trying to find a cure for the past five years. But recently I saw a change in his hormones when a…” Nylune gripped the back of his long shirt, not wanting him to tell the alpha that he was the reason he might be cured. He didn’t want him to know that he affected him that much. It was bad enough that he had to give himself to someone like him. “…he was around an alpha. He hasn’t shared his heat with an alpha for five years. You’d be the first. Please take care of him.”

Adew said nothing. He just stared at him, his eyes dropping lower to Nylune’s hands, as if he could see what he was doing. Nylune dropped them immediately.

What am I doing? Nylune asked himself, confused. Adew wasn’t his alpha. He shouldn’t feel the need to submit to him.

“And to answer your question, I’m not sure how long it’s going to take. It could take a week or a few days. I don’t know.”

“It’s all an experiment,” Adew said. Nylune cringed. His tone said it all. He didn’t want to do it. So, why did he agree to do it then? He should have refused when he’d given him a way out. He stepped to the side to tell him just that, but Dr Micha blocked his way.

“Yes, it’s an experiment. And I wish it was with an alpha I trusted, who was willing to do this. But it’s you… so we have to make the best of it.” Dr Micha turned and faced Nylune. “I’ll come back in a few days and take blood samples to see if there are any changes. If there are none, we’ll stop the experiment and I’ll try to find another way to cure you.”
