He hated this. He was such a slave to his body. He had no control over it whatsoever.

He needed to get home to his pleasuring bots, away from the alpha’s amazing scent and body. Nylune counted the minutes to the first knock at the door. He breathed out a sigh of relief as he rushed to open the door.

“Dr Micha,” he said, stepping aside for his team to walk in and check on Adew.

“Are you alright?” Dr Micha asked. Nylune nodded. “You can go home. Thank you for staying with him. I’ll come and check on you later.”

“Okay. Here, it’s his,” Nylune said handing him Adew’s connector. Dr Micha took it and walked down the hallway to the bedroom. Nylune made his way to the exercise room, but hesitated at the door, wondering if Adew was going to be okay.

It’s none of my business, he thought walking to the window. He got out and returned to his house the way he’d come. He picked up his connector from the lounge and walked into the house, heading to his office. There was no way he was going to sleep now. He might as well get some work done. He was in heat anyway. He walked to his desk and took out one of his pills, just to take the edge off. He knew it wouldn’t completely work because he had the alpha’s scent in his lungs. But it would numb some of the desire churning through his veins.

It was going to be a long night.

Nylune sighed and moved to the chaise. He stopped abruptly when he heard a humming sound reverberate all around him.

The okie… it was back.

Chapter 8

Adew

Adew endured Ajin’s prodding hands along his neck and his muttering as he examined the damage he’d caused to himself. He groaned into the mattress as Ajin pushed a particularly painful area along his shoulder blade. Dr Micha and his team hadn’t wasted time. As soon as they’d arrived, they’d hauled him from the floor and laid him down on his bed. They did a quick check of his vitals and then left him in the cold hands of his physical therapist. Adew was glad he hadn’t hurt himself badly enough to be taken back to the health centre. He didn’t want to go back there. The health centre represented a time in his life he didn’t want to go back to. He already felt like a failure, because his progress was slow. Going back there would make him feel even worse.

Adew gritted his teeth as Ajin continued with his physical exam.

“He’s fine. He didn’t cause any damage to his injury either. He hurt his shoulder when he fell,” the therapist reported to Dr Micha. Adew could feel the alpha’s agitated energy thrumming all around him. That was strange. The doctor never showed any sign that he was worried for him. Even when he had been laid down on his back in that centre the doctor had treated him like a problem he had to find a solution to. But now Adew could have sworn Dr Micha was concerned about him.

He had almost died, after all, Adew thought, feeling stupid for falling like that. He clenched his hands into fists, burying his face into the mattress, but Ajin turned him over, propping him up on his pillows and he found himself face to face with the alphas.

Dammit, what was their problem?

“If I didn’t hurt myself, why couldn’t I move?” he asked, ignoring their judgy faces.

Ajin shook his head, but he did answer him grudgingly. “Your body went into shock and seized up. You might not think so, but your body went through a traumatic event. A simple fall can cause your body to seize up and experience the pain and helplessness you felt that night.”

Yeah, it did feel like that, Adew thought. He couldn’t move and the pain in his neck had been excruciating.

“Your body has healed well enough. You just need to get your strength back. And that’ll take time,” he added.

Adew nodded.

“You have to learn to be patient. I know that’s hard for you, but you…”

“How long have you been in heat?” Dr Micha interjected.

Shit. He was just going to cut to the chase, wasn’t he?

“A couple of hours,” Adew said. “But my fall has nothing to do with that.”

“You think?” Ajin said. “I remember telling you to prepare for your heat because I was afraid something like this might happen – or worse.”

Adew growled. “If you knew something like this might happen you should have told me.”

Ajin folded his arms over his chest and stared at him, a challenge in his eyes. “Told you what, exactly?”

“Find a damn omega to fuck or you might fall on your face and hurt yourself.”

Ajin laughed.
