Prologue
Nylune
Nylune’s fingers sank into his back as he held him close. He moved inside him with a ferocity he’d never experienced before.
They should stop. This wasn’t right.
Nylune tried to shove him off, but desire burned like a raging fire inside him, causing his thighs to lock tight around his waist. He needed this. He needed to breed, to feel his cum deep inside him.
No. He was the alpha king. They shouldn’t be doing this. He shouldn’t beg him to fuck him harder, and deeper, but he couldn’t help himself. His body moved all on its own – hips rocking, tilting to shove his cock deeper into his hole, refusing to listen to him. Nylune moaned as he moved faster.
Why were they doing this?
One minute he was handing him the notes he’d taken during their last meeting with the alphas, and the next thing his scent hit him…
He’d never noticed his scent before. Like any other omega on the planet, he’d noticed how gorgeous and appealing Deltta Kohle was. He’d have to be dead, not to notice. But he’d never been attracted to Deltta Kohle like that. To him, he was his boss, the alpha he looked up to. He was more like a brother to him.
No, that sounded sick, considering he had his thighs wrapped around him, and he was silently begging the alpha to breed with him.
Ashamed, Nylune hid his face against his shoulder, wishing he could force himself to stop. But he clung to him and rocked to the rhythm of his thrusts.
Nylune’s mouth hung open as pleasure twisted his insides and pushed him over the edge. His orgasm crushed into him, making him shudder.
“Fuck,” Deltta said. The sound of his voice vibrated through him. Nylune woke up with a start. He sat up in bed, gasping for air as his body shuddered and his hole pulsed with need.
He groaned, clutching the sheets. Desire rippled through him as if he were going through the moment all over again. He’d never felt such a desperate need to breed in his entire life. It hardly felt like sex, because if it were sex maybe he would have been able to control himself. No, that moment of insanity in the alpha king’s office had felt like something out of the animal documentaries he loved to watch. He’d felt crazed, desperate for something only the alpha could give him. He still was. It was as if he were experiencing his heat all over again. From his dreams to reality.
Fuck, he was horny.
Dr Micha called it a prolonged heat. And he couldn’t fucking figure it out, or make it stop.
Hands shaking, Nylune covered his face. The machines attached to him beeped to the rhythm of his heart. The sound echoed around him, making him feel like he was going insane. Nylune groaned, wishing he was home. He’d had enough of the sterile smell of the health centre. But he couldn’t leave. Dr Micha was still running his tests. He refused to send him home in the state that he was in. Nylune doubted there was a solution for what he had. It had been two weeks of this… his body burned relentlessly, yearning, needing. He couldn’t even think of a cock without feeling like he was coming out of his skin.
“I’m going crazy,” he mumbled breathlessly as heat scuttled down his spine to send a pulsing need in his hole. He sighed, pulling his thighs to his chest. He rocked back and forth, willing his body to calm down. After a while he felt a little better. He stared down at the bed, wishing he could go back to sleep, but there was no way he’d sleep now. He was done for the night. He got off the bed and walked out of the room. The hallway was silent and empty, which was to be expected at this time of the night. The nurses scarcely came to this side of the health centre at night. Nylune figured the patients there were special cases who didn’t need intensive care. They were waiting for Dr Micha to figure out some miracle for them so they could get back to normal.
Nylune doubted he’d ever have that. His life was completely changed. His career ruined. The whole planet had been turned upside down by what had happened between him and the alpha king. He cringed as his dream flashed through his mind.
He wished he could forget it all. He didn’t want to think about Deltta Kohle like that. As he continued to walk down the hallway, Nylune shook his head and forced his mind to something else.
Hazi had said he’d come visit him tomorrow. That was something to look forward to. His cousin was crazy. Spending time with him would take his mind off everything else that was going on in his life. He hoped he was taking care of his house. The flowers he’d planted last summer were probably blooming right now. He would have loved to see them and his beta boyfriend, although he probably didn’t want to see him after everything that had happened. He was yet to visit him or connect with him.
Nylune bit the inside of his mouth. He should kiss that relationship goodbye. Or any relationship. Who’d want him now, after such a massive scandal?
He’d lived his life focused on his career, fought hard for his independence. While other omegas only dreamed of being bonded to an alpha or beta, he wanted more for himself. His parents thought he aimed too high. He should focus on finding a good bond from a good family. But he’d worked hard, finished his A-levels in the learning centre and got a job in a small company working for a very demanding alpha, but that didn’t stop him – he learned what he needed and pushed himself to be the best assistant he could be. When he’d scored a job in the council office, working for the alpha king, a job reserved only for betas, he couldn’t believe it. His family couldn’t believe it either. He’d reached the very top.
But now he’d brought shame to all of them. He was sure they wanted nothing to do with him, since Hazi was the only one who wanted to see him.
He should sell his house and move to some small town in the rural part of the planet. The people there didn’t care much about scandals or whatever happened in the capital. He could start over, live a quiet life, alone.
Nylune sighed at the last part because he didn’t think he could do that. If Dr Micha failed to find him a cure for his prolonged heat, there was no way he could survive being alone. He needed…
Stop thinking about it, Nylune whispered to himself as desire rushed through him. He walked around the centre’s silent hallways, hoping to work through the energy that thrummed through him. Two hours later he returned to his room and found one of the nurses there.
“Oh, there you are. Dr Micha is looking for you,” she said.
That was odd.
“At this hour?” Nylune asked nervously. Was something wrong? He never made his rounds at night.
