“That’s what I thought,” Hym said. “There’s rumour that Pharyi was decapitated.”
“Really?” Roc smiled, turning the piece of metal in his hand. “I think you might have found our killer.”
“What?” Hym stepped close to him.
Roc turned and dropped the metal on his workstation. He touched his screens, and the large monitor came alive showing flaming blades. “Did you know a flaming blade burns so hot that the water in the air beads together and sticks to the blade? Our sweat included. I can find the people who held this blade.”
Hym couldn’t believe this.
“Really? It doesn’t burn off.”
“No. It crystallizes forming hard DNA filled bubbles around the blade. That’s why the blade breaks off as it burns too hot. The bubbles corrode the blade.” Roc picked up the sliver of metal. “I’ll send it to the lab. But we might find nothing. This is public knowledge. The person might have worn protective gear.”
Fuck, he thought they might have found the bastard.
“Just send it in. We might get lucky,” Hym said.
“Yeah.”
Hym turned for the door as he pressed his brother’s code.
“Hey,” Tarymn said seconds later. “Is your heat over?”
Of course, he’d ask about that.
He wondered when he’d stop worrying about him. “Yes. And before you ask, it went well.”
He paused.
Was that a sigh of relief?
“That's good,” Tarymn said. “Come have lunch with me. I haven’t seen you in a while.”
“It’s been four days, brother.”
“Four days too long,” he declared before the connector went silent. Hym stared at it and shook his head.
He was about to leave when Roc screamed behind him. Hym quickly turned to him.
“Finally found you!” he shot to his feet and pulled a move that had Hym cringing.
"Fuck, no one should see that," Hym commented dryly.
"I don't care. I found him," he screamed, continuing to dance.
“Found who?” He stared at the screens trying to figure out the answer but looked away quickly, blinking.
He didn’t know why he tried to figure out any shit involving Roc. Only he could understand the shit crawling over the screen.
The doors slid open, Makar, Iror and Cali rushed in. The alphas glanced at him but said nothing about him being there.
"What’s happening? I heard screaming."
“I found the hacker,” Roc declared.
Shocked, Hym stepped close to him. “You did?”
Makar moved closer to the large monitor.
