Fear and excitement wound through him. He wondered why his father hadn’t connected with him. He probably wanted to catch him off guard and drag him home.

Not this time, Jamue thought, smiling.

He got off the bed and walked to the washroom.

There, he turned on the bot and stepped into the warm water. He played with the buttons, moaning as the pulsating massage setting caused the water to ripple around him as it worked the kinks in his body. He stayed in the bot until his skin turned wrinkly. He stepped out and walked to the drying bot in front of the mirror. He stared at himself, his hand flying to the concealing strip.

Could he finally be himself? His father wasn’t there to admonish him. He didn’t have to be the perfect omega anymore.

Would Hym still like him? His heart thudded at the thought of his alpha seeing his true face.

He doubted he would.

Alphas wanted perfection. His father wouldn’t have drummed that knowledge into him if it wasn’t true.

Jamue sighed.

“I should connect with Sirhe to ask for new concealing strips,” Jamue mumbled, turning away from the mirror.

He walked back into his room and made for the clothing cubicle. He groaned as soon as he opened the doors.

He left his clothes, his pleasuring bots, and everything precious to him at home.

His freedom came at a steep price.

Returning to the washroom, he quickly put on his dirty clothes.

Done, he picked up his connector from the bed and walked out of his room.

He stopped in front of Hym’s bedroom door.

Was he in there?

A shiver went through him at the thought of seeing him again.

Last night had been…an experience… he hadn’t expected to feel that way.

You’re here for him, your feelings don’t matter, Jamue told himself as he walked downstairs, looking around for any sign of him or the others.

“They're outside,” Patri said, heading there, a serving bot following him. He opened the door for him.

“Morning,” Jamue said, walking to the table. Ludiin nodded and returned his eyes to the pad beside his plate.

“Morning,” Tarymn said, staring at his brother, who got to his feet and pulled out the chair for him.

His smile was breath-taking.

Jamue sat next to him, a thrilling feeling pinching his skin.

“Here,” Hym said, placing a plate full of food in front of him. He liked to feed him.

“Thank you,” Jamue said.

He felt eyes on him. He looked up to find Tarymn staring at them, a strange look in his eyes. He gave him a nod and quickly looked away.

What was that about? Jamue asked himself as he focused on his food. They ate in silence, a stark difference from last night’s dinner.

Luci wasn’t there. He was clearly the loud one in the family.
