This time what?

He could count the number of times he’d come during his heats. And he had to work hard to reach the finish line, even then his orgasms were nothing to write home about.

Jamue sighed.

He got off the bed and went to the washroom. He cleaned himself up and returned to bed. He pulled the covers to his chin.

He should be happy. He managed to help his alpha, even though he couldn’t do much for him. He wasn’t a total failure after all. He wrapped his arms around his pillow and closed his eyes.

Chapter 14

Jamue

His connector went off, jerking him awake.

Father!

Jamue sat up abruptly, reaching for it with a groan. He squinted at the screen and breathed out a sigh of relief when he saw Mac’s code.

“Where are you?” Mac asked as soon as he completed the connection.

“What? Did something happen?” Jamue rubbed his eyes sleepily.

He blushed as he remembered why he was sleepy. His eyes fell on the opposite wall, his body turning warm, waking up his unfulfilled desire. His hole pulsed hungrily.

“Your father is here,” Mac said.

Jamue froze.

Mac's words were a cold splash of water to the face.

“Nava found him waiting at the door when he arrived. He’s been waiting for you since early morning.”

He has?

What time is it? Jamue looked at the light drifting into the room, and he could tell it was late morning.

That was odd.

He was never late. He must feel comfortable in his alpha's house to sleep so soundly.

“I’ll be there soon,” he told Mac, internally groaning at the thought of dealing with his father.

“No, don’t,” Mac said. “I don’t think he knows where you are, or he would have come to you.”

“I can’t leave you to deal with him.”

“I’m not. He hasn’t said anything. He’s sitting in the waiting room,” Mac whispered as if he’d gotten closer. “Damn, he looks scary. Hopefully, he’ll leave soon. I don’t want him to scare our customers.”

Jamue shuddered. His father scared him too.

“Are you sure you can handle him?” he asked, feeling guilty. “I should come and talk to him. Get this over and done with.”

“Don’t. He’ll find out where you are eventually. You’ll deal with it then. If he tries to connect with you, don’t respond. Your parents have been hounding you to bond with their chosen alpha ever since I met you. Give yourself a few days to breathe, Jamue. You deserve it.”

“Okay,” Jamue said.

“We’ll talk later.” The connector went silent.
