He was shocked too.

He returned his gaze to Jamue. They stared at each other.

His skin tingled. Tension swirled between them, and he felt like they were the only two people in the room. He wanted to go to him – pull him close, hold him tight and breathe in his delicious scent. He wanted it in his lungs, all over his skin - everywhere.

Desire writhed inside him, causing his cock to thicken.

Fuck, he wanted him.

Hym clenched his fist, forcing himself to stand still.

Someone cleared their throat, snapping him out of his trance. His eyes drifted behind Jamue at the agency representative. Fuck. He hadn’t noticed him standing there.

“I think we should begin,” he said, moving to stand next to Jamue, assuming a protective stance.

“Of course,” Hym said. He moved to stand next to his brother behind the desk.

“I…” Jamue said, staring at him, his eyes cagey.

He was going to run.

“You’re here for the interview, right?” Hym asked.

The omega hesitated for a few seconds looking unsure, but he eventually nodded.

“Maybe you should sit down so we can start.” Tarymn pointed to the chair in front of his desk. “My brother desperately needs a companion. We shouldn’t waste time.”

Hym grimaced.

He wouldn’t say he was desperate. That made him sound pitiful.

And he didn’t want Jamue to see him like that. So far, he probably thought he was uncultured, crazy, and beastly.

Hym bit the inside of his mouth, hoping he wouldn’t hold their first meeting against him. He silently groaned as he thought of their second.

Shit.

Okay, maybe he was a little desperate. But he wasn’t desperate for just any omega, he was desperate for him.

Hym let his eyes crawl the length of him, taking in his long white shirt that molded to his lithe body.

A whimpering sound filled the office.

Hym looked up to find Jamue staring at him, eyes wide.

Shit.

He was going to run for sure.

Don’t run, please, Hym silently begged. But Jamue turned to the representative and shook his head.

The beta stared at him for a few seconds and then nodded. Jamue walked out of the office without a backward glance. Hym felt his rejection deeper than he thought he would.

“The omega is unable to continue with the interview. I’m sorry for the inconvenience. The agency will send another omega as soon as possible. Please excuse me,” the beta said, walking out of the office.

Hym stared at the spot Jamue had stood. Everything inside him urged him to go after the omega. To apologize, beg – do everything to keep him by his side. But he forced himself to stand still.

His scent still lingered in the air, enticing him.
