“Don’t look so surprised. You must have known this would happen. The truth always comes out eventually.”
“What…”
“Your parents and brother are here,” Ludiin offered when Luci just stared at him.
Jamue froze.
“They brought your real alpha…” Ludiin turned to his brother. “And the council officer.”
They didn’t.
His breath hitched.
He gasped for air, but he couldn’t breathe. Jamue slapped his hand on his chest.
“Jamue!” Ludiin rushed to him and caught him before he hit the floor. He helped him to the bed. “Breathe, Jamue.” He rubbed his back.
Jamue drew in a breath.
How did his father find him?
Oh no….Hym…
Tears splashed his cheek. He didn’t get a chance to tell him.
“Luci connected with Hym. He’s on his way,” Ludiin said, wiping his tears away. “He’ll handle everything. Just breathe.”
Jamue pushed to his feet.
He had to be the one to tell him. He couldn’t allow his father to talk to him before he did. He had to explain.
“Jamue?”
“I need to go,” he said, rushing downstairs.
Pitra pointed him to the outdoor sitting area. “Maybe you should change,” he said, pointing at his sleeping clothes.
Jamue shook his head. He didn’t care what he looked like.
He pushed the door open and walked out of the house. Sirhe was the first to turn and stare at him. They all stood at the steps leading to the garden.
He could see the sympathy in his eyes. His father looked at him next, his eyes crawling the length of him. His face twisted in displeasure. He looked away.
“Jamue?” his dad said as he got closer. He took his hand and patted it. His comforting touch and scent made Jamue breathe easy. “There’s no need to rush, son. Go and change, we’re still waiting for your…alpha.”
Jamue’s eyes widened.
He never thought he’d hear him call Hym his alpha.
Were they going to accept him? But why bring Master Rosh?
“He’s not his alpha. This is some kind of fraud,” his father shouted.
“Go,” his dad shoved him to the door before he turned to his father. “Let’s not jump to conclusions. There must be a mix-up. The council has never made this kind of mistake.” He heard him say as he walked out the door and ran upstairs to his room. Jamue quickly changed his clothes and returned downstairs.
