“What?” Mac’s heart stopped beating. “What happened to Deltta?”

“Get dressed. Please. Quickly.” He stepped out of the room. Mac rushed for his clothes. He quickly put them on and went to find Yarr.

“Let’s go,” Yarr said, making his way out of the house.

“Please tell me what happened?” he asked as they drifted on the airway at high speed. Mac turned cold as they headed towards the health center. No…no…please no. “Yarr?”

“He’s hurt. That’s all I know.”

The media was already there when they arrived.

“Go in alone. If we go in together, they’ll notice. I know you don’t like being in the spotlight.”

“Where is he?” Mac asked.

“Probably in the VIP section. Just go inside and go up to the second floor. You’ll see his security personnel there.”

Mac nodded and got out of the pod. His legs shaking, he walked to the double doors.

Almost there, he thought as he walked past the media personnel. No one seemed to notice him.

Mac made his way to the second floor. He saw Deltta’s security personnel immediately.

They’d taken control of the floor, checking everyone who walked around, even the center’s stuff.

“May I help you?” one of them asked.

“I uhm...I’m here to see the alpha king,” Mac said.

The alpha shook his head. “Only family is allowed at the moment."

“But I’m his…” his what? Mac touched the side of his neck. The claiming mark was gone, he’d only been seen with him in public once, and everything between them happened behind closed doors.

What if he never got to see him again? Or get to tell him how much he loved him.

He’d wasted so much time worrying about things that didn’t matter.

“Please, let me see him. I want to make sure he’s alright,” Mac cried.

The security personnel shook his head. “Is he alright? At least tell me that.”

“I can’t. I’m sorry,” he said, turning away.

“Please.” Mac cried.

He tried to walk past him, but he blocked his way. The people in the hallway turned and stared at him. Mac didn’t care.

He had to see his alpha. He needed to see him.

“Please don’t make this harder than it should be.” The alpha grasped his arm and dragged him away.

“Let go of him.” A hard voice boomed in the hallway.

“Maxus,” Mac wrenched his arm out of the alpha's grip and rushed to him. “How is he? Is he alright?”

“Breathe, Mac,” Maxus whispered. “I’ll take you to him.”

Mac followed him down the hallway to the room Deltta was in. He rushed to the bed as soon as the door opened. He looked so still.
