What was he doing? He resisted the urge to look his way.
Faria grimaced. “I can’t do that. Please, Mac. He said he heard there was a brilliant spirit mixer in town. He came here specifically for you.”
“Just go.” Jamue nudged him. “Think of it as an advertisement for our business. Whatever he wants will be sold out by tomorrow.”
Mac closed his eyes for a few seconds, willing his body to stop shaking.
Jamue was right.
Everyone was interested in the alpha king. He might as well turn that interest in their favor. He didn’t want to use him like that, but he was the one who came to his place of work.
Mac took a deep breath and walked to his table. Deltta’s eyes blazed with heat as he got closer.
His scent thickened.
Mac shivered as it filled his lungs. He loved his scent. He literally stopped himself from greedily sniffing it in.
“Good evening, welcome to Brazen Leisure room. What can I get you?” Mac focused on the other alphas, avoiding his heated gaze. But he could feel his eyes on him, their searing heat cascading down his length, prickling his skin.
“You know what I want,” Deltta growled out, dragging his eyes to his. His alphas looked from him to their master.
Mac blushed.
Was he trying to embarrass him? Because it was working. His words insinuated there was something between them. An awkward tension ensued as they stared at each other.
Yarr cleared his throat. “Surprise us. We heard you make delicious spirits.”
“I’ll select one from my recent creations,” Mac said politely. Anger and longing warred inside him as he returned to the war room and mixed their drinks using Sweet Core as the base. He put his heart and soul into the creation.
To impress him?
Mac clenched his jaw because he couldn’t deny it.
“Are you creating something new?” Jamue stepped closer to the table.
“I guess. It just came to me.”
“I hope you'll remember it tomorrow. People are going to order it.” Faria hovered over him, taking notes.
Done, Mac placed the drinks on a serving bot.
“No. I’ll take them.” Faria fussed over the drinks, making a production of the whole thing.
He was serving the alpha king, not just anyone.
Right, Mac thought, reminded of how far apart their lives were.
He packed his thing, sealed the tanks, and then left using the back door.
Jamue followed him silently, keeping a respectable distance as if he sensed he wasn’t in the mood to talk. When they arrived home, Mac headed to the washroom. He closed the door and leaned against it. Seeing him again wasn’t as hard as he thought it would be. He handled himself well.
It will get better, Mac told himself.
