Fuck, Deltta groaned frustrated. He paced from the couch to the desk.
An idea struck, bringing him to a stop. “I’ll ask Yarr to pull up my schedule. Maybe there's something there.”
“Yes, that would be helpful. I’ll start there,” Hym declared.
Deltta wanted to be hopeful, but fuck, it's been five years. "I doubt you'll find anything."
“No, Hym is right. We should start there. Pharyi is clever, but he’s not that clever,” Tarymn said confidently. “He hid the funds he embezzled from the council, but I found them. We’ll find the poison he used. We just need to look harder.”
“I’ll ask Dr Micha for my medical records too. Maybe there's something in my tests he might have overlooked.”
“Good. Let’s find this bastard,” Tarymn said excitedly. Deltta got to his feet and pulled his friend into a hug.
“I shouldn't have doubted you,” he said. He turned and shook Hym’s hand. The blue twin didn’t have to help him, but he was. “Thanks.”
“Enough of that. Are you alright?” Tarymn looked at him from head to toe. “I heard you were in a lab somewhere being experimented on like an animal.”
“Nope. I was home. Medicated, yes, but it wasn’t as horrific as it sounded. The media outlets made it sound like that because they wanted to calm everyone down.”
“While they turned you into a monster,” Hym added.
“Maybe Pharyi was behind that too. He had to make sure you never came back,” Tarymn said thoughtfully.
It was possible. But Deltta didn’t care. He just wanted to clear his name. He left Tarymn’s house feeling better and hopeful about the future. He might not know where all this would lead, but at least he would have his name back.
Chapter 10
Mac
Asking Jamue to live with him was the best decision Mac had ever made. He loved having the omega with him. He went to work and came back to a clean and cosy space. They talked, ate and spent time together, their bond growing strong.
Everything was perfect, except for one thing - the mark on his neck wasn’t fading.
Mac was worried about what it meant - according to the mark, he belonged to Deltta Kohle and only him.
Mac’s stomach fluttered nervously. Oh, this was a disaster.
Don’t think about it, he told himself.
As the days went by, he tried hard not to think about it, but he couldn’t ignore it when Jamue’s eyes fell on his neck every time he looked at him. Mac could see the concern in his eyes, and it made him anxious.
“He said it would fade,” he told Jamue when he asked about it three weeks later. He tried not to fidget when he continued to stare at him. It wasn’t fading, and they both knew it.
Mac turned to the counter, pushing all thoughts about the claiming mark out of his mind. He focused on his new creation. Faria’s leisure room was becoming popular, and they were expanding their menu to offer more to their customers.
And it wouldn’t hurt to have a bottle of something nice next week when his heat came along. Mac wasn’t looking forward to it, not after he was with an alpha like Deltta Kohle. His entire heat was going to be horrible. He just knew it.
He kind of asked Deltta to share his heat, but...
You didn’t ask him, a small voice said.
Well, he couldn’t.
He was afraid he would reject him, even though he spent four days with him. Alphas would fuck anything during their heats, that’s what they say.
And he fucked him alright. Mac shivered. He wished he would do it again, but that wouldn't happen.
Jamue silently walked to their room, leaving him there. Mac bit into his bottom lip, feeling the weight of the mark on his neck.
