“I don’t know, but it sounded important.”

Deltta nodded, getting to his feet. He made his way to his room. His nostrils flared as Mac’s scent filled his lungs, instantly settling his nerves. Deltta walked to the bed and picked up the covers. He buried his nose into the folds, groaning as his body heated and his cock hardened.

He wanted him again.

Chapter 8

Mac

Mac asked Yarr to drop him off at the commune. He wanted to see Jamue. He was so happy about what happened with Deltta that he couldn’t wait to share the moment with his friend.

“Thank you,” Mac said as Yarr drifted to a stop a few blocks from the commune.

“No, thank you. Because of you, my master looked happy for the first time in a long time,” he said.

He did? He looked irritable to him.

Mac shrugged.

He didn’t really know Deltta Kohle. They hardly spoke during his heat. Mac blushed as memories of them together flashed in his mind. He was going to remember the four days they shared for the rest of his life.

“See you soon,” Yarr waved to him as he made his way out of the hover pod. Mac waved back, though he wasn’t sure he’d see him again. The way Deltta acted when he left wasn’t promising; he couldn’t get rid of him fast enough. And the whole making sure he couldn’t get pregnant thing...that had been a low blow. Mac understood why…but…

He pushed his disappointment away and focused on the positive. He got to be with an alpha. That was something he thought would never happen. Mac laughed, too happy to care about what happened after.

He walked down the path that led to the commune house, loud voices came from inside.

What was going on?

He pushed the door open and came to a stop when he found Jamue and the rest of the omegas standing in the foyer, arguing with Elama.

“There is no credit. What? You think the council cares about you enough to send us credit. We haven’t received anything. Ask Ulk. We are suffering the same as you. When was the last time they sent an omega here?” Elama asked, pacing in front of them. Dressed in another long shirt with unidentifiable stains all over it, she looked deranged. She turned and stared at him. “He was the last one.”

Mac fidgeted as everyone turned and stared at him. Ryine’s face pulled in a mask of hate, but he thankfully turned to Elama. Jamue walked to him. He took Mac’s arm and wrapped it around himself. Mac held him close.

“What’s going on?”

“There’s no food. We haven’t eaten a full meal in two days.” He leaned on him.

Ryine got into Elama’s face. “I don’t care. You have a duty to take care of us. We are here because you and the council provided this commune house.” The others nodded in agreement.

“You think?” Elama shook her head. “Do I look like I’m in any position to take care of the lot of you?”

“Elama,” Ulk said, pulling her back.

“No. You have the nerve to put all this on me. I wasn’t the one who cut off the funds to the commune. The council decided, and here we suffer. Maybe you should talk to the council of alphas.” She snarled and then stormed off. Ulk gave them a pitying look before he followed her like a loyal dog.

“What are we going to do?” one of the omegas asked. “We can’t go home or do anything at all. Are we just going to starve here?”

“No.” Ryine stormed after Elama.

The others looked at each other and then followed him. Mac tightened his arm around Jamue.

“I’m starving,” he cried against his shoulder.

“Come,” Mac said. He walked him down the hallway to his room and helped him lay down on his bed. “I’m going to find you food. Stay here.”

Mac rushed out of the commune house and headed to Faria’s leisure room. The beta served food. Maybe he had leftovers that could tide them over while he thought of something better.
