Sad, but it was his reality.
His connector went off in the bedroom. He rushed to it. He completed the connection when he saw his brother’s code.
“Hey, Griean,” he said. “How is the cub?”
Griean laughed. “Growing.”
He sounded happy.
Why wouldn’t he be? Griean was mated to his true mate. They found each other in the weirdest way. Mac should have known he would somehow mate with his obsession. Griean had been obsessed with the alpha for as long as Mac could remember. He was now carrying the alpha’s cub. What were the odds?
I should also find someone to obsess over, Mac thought to himself.
“Did you hear what I said?” Griean asked.
Did he say something?
“Not really. I’m starting my heat today. Maybe you should hold off whatever you want to say until after my heat because I won’t remember a thing,” Mac said, moving around the cooking station. His body was starting to rev up again. He should finish up and go back to his room.
The connector went silent.
“Griean?”
“Are you alone again?” he asked.
“Yes.” Mac shook his head.
What? Did he think he was lucky enough to land the most accomplished alpha on the planet as he did? No. He wasn’t that lucky. He was him. The unwanted omega – who didn’t look like an omega at all.
“Did you try to look for someone?”
Mac laughed. This comes on the heels of his humiliation. He’d managed to forget the whole limp-cock-as-soon-as-he-dropped-his-long-shirt-moment long enough to make himself cum. Now his brother was bringing it up all the way from the capital.
Fuck Griean.
Mac knew he was concerned about him. But fuck dammit...he had eyes. He knew why it was hard for him to attract an alpha or beta. He wasn’t what they wanted.
“Yes, I tried. And he still couldn’t fuck me. My scent didn’t even entice him,” Mac said, staring up at the ceiling. He couldn’t believe he was reliving the most embarrassing moment of his life. Once was enough. “Griean, I have to go. My heat is calling me.”
“Mac, wait."
“What?”
He was silent for a few seconds. Mac dreaded whatever he was going to say.
“I’ll find someone for you.”
As if he hadn’t tried.
“Right. Let me know when you find him.” Mac dropped the connector on the counter.
Chapter 3
Deltta
Did he have to be here? Deltta asked himself as he stared at Dr Micha. He hated coming to the health centre. He always felt like he was some wild animal that had to be poked and scraped to prove to everyone he was fine. If it wasn’t for Maxus dragging him to the centre for his monthly check-up, he wouldn’t go. He was getting medicated.
What more did they want?
