“Well, we have the sleigh ride, but maybe we should do that after Christmas and give the driver Christmas Eve off?”

“She’s going to work whether you’re the ones in her sleigh or not. Take the ride, and then I’ll get you some reservations in town for a nice dinner for your last night here.”

“It’s not our last night. Your sister rented us a house in town through New Year’s.” A week didn’t seem long enough anymore, but that was a bridge to cross later.

“Really? So we can have Christmas dinner!” Bryan grinned broadly.

“Is that cool with you, Mari? A nice holiday supper with Bry?”

It really didn’t matter because no one was going to have to cook or clean up. Well, someone was, but they’d be earning time and a half for it.

“I would love that. I really would.” That was the right thing to say about a holiday dinner with family, but she was half surprised to discover that she actually meant it too.

“Cool. We’re having a limited menu, but it should be tasty—ham or roast, potatoes, rolls, green beans, and pies.”

“That works. Better than peanut butter sandwiches, right, Bry?”

Beks got a knowing grin. “Hell, yeah.”

“This sounds like a good story to hear over dinner.” She stood again. “Sign us up for that sleigh ride. We’ll be there with bells on.”

“Perfect. I’ll call Evie and let her know. I’ve had your…problem removed from the property, so she shouldn’t be back.”

“You are the best, Bryan. Thank you so much.” She saw Bryan out and closed the door. “I thought he was delusional for a while, but he’s a good guy.”

“He really is. He tries so hard to make everyone happy that it gets him in trouble sometimes.” Beks shrugged, twining their fingers together. “He’s a great brother.”

“We’re going on a sleigh ride.” She was excited. It sounded like fun. And kind of…romantic? “Another thing I’ve never done.”

“Me either. I think I need go into town and pick up a present for Bry. Do you want to?”

“Yes. I do. It’s so cute there right now with all the holiday decorations.” Plus they had bar friends they might run into.

“Yeah, and we can stop and see if that bartender survived the night.”

She chuckled. “I feel like we’re not the first drunk, lesbian tourists she’s dealt with, but then again she’s probably never heard us sing before.”

She helped Beks off the couch. “Let’s get showered and dressed. I want to wash that bitch out of my hair.”

Beks laughter chased her, all the way into the bathroom.

Her lady approved.

Bekka was proud of herself.

She hadn’t had a meltdown when Mari’s ex had shown up. She hadn’t cried. She hadn’t been a little bitch.

She’d wanted to, though, and she’d taken a long minute to look at her cards.

She dropped the ten of cups three different times as she shuffled, and that had calmed her heart.

Harmony. Alignment. Divine love.

Oh, maybe she’d done the right thing.

She pulled on a warm pair of fuzzy leggings and a bright green sweater. She wanted to buy Mari a Christmas gift as well as Bry.
