“Soon…oh fuck. Mari! Mari, please!” She arched, damn near tumbling down as she fell apart.

Mari caught her and kissed her, stealing her air.

All she could do was shiver, moaning into her lover’s lips. “Love…”

“Beks, I—”

There was a loud hum and then the gondola started moving again, startling them both.

“Shit. Wow. Okay.” Mari pulled away and started putting herself back together, tucking in her shirt and zipping her fly.

“Good timing.” Bekka made sure she was okay, telling herself that she’d almost fucked up bad right then. Mari wasn’t into more than a nice holiday fuck. She knew this.

She just didn’t believe it.

“I don’t know. I was enjoying myself.” Mari looked around, then put an arm around her. “We’re almost at the top, then we’ll ride back down. Are you okay?”

“I’m melted, so yeah.” Heights? Who cared?

“You’re a sexy thing, Ms. Harker.” Mari pulled her closer so she was almost in Mari’s lap.

“You make me dizzy, Mari.” It was like that perfect reading, when everything came together as if the stars had it planned.

“Better me than the heights, right?” Mari looked around suddenly, not out the windows, but inside the gondola car. “You don’t think they have cameras in here do you?”

Oh, they’d had shots.

Many shots. They’d made some bar friends, ordered some food, then wandered around town for a while drinking coffee. Somehow they’d made it back to resort in an Uber or something that Marissa didn’t think either of them had paid for.

She had no idea what time that was either, but they’d fooled around for a while and after they’d both gotten off, they’d crashed.

It had been a fun night. Late, but fun.

There was light streaming in the window, and she hid from it, burying her nose between Bekka’s shoulder blades.

“Mmm… Morning, you.” Bekka giggled softly. “Did we really sing ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ in the bar?”

“Morning. We would never do anything so humiliating.” They totally had. “I think I did actually lick salt off your neck though.”

Mmm. Tequila.

“Oh, yeah. That was hot as hell.” Soft giggles filled the air. “Not as hot as what I got to lick when we got back to bed.”

She hummed, stretching out long. “And I thought you were uninhibited when you were sober. I had no idea what a couple of shots could do.”

“Mmm…lime-flavored Mari. My new favorite taste.” Bekka stretched and wiggled, so warm and silky against her.

“I don’t do that very often, you know. Drink like that. Yesterday was something else.” She knew damn well why too, and it had almost nothing to do with the gondola stalling halfway up the mountain.

“This is a special situation, Mari. We have so many things to feel, right?”

She didn’t know if Bekka was a mind reader also, but sometimes it felt that way. She nodded. “It’s a lot.” She frowned after she said that and rolled up on an elbow to look at Bekka. “Good things. But a lot.”

“Positive stressors are still stress.” Beks shrugged and smiled at her. “You are allowed to give yourself time to process.”

She laughed. “Uh-huh. It’s definitely easier to give myself tequila instead and not have to process.”
