“A’ight. We’ll be there. Just send me the time and address.

“Are you sure you’ll both be there? Before I commit to this, Berlin.”

“I’m sure. I’m sitting in shawty’s kitchen as we speak. I think we’re good.”

“You’re sitting in Myome’s kitchen at…” She paused. “Eight in the morning after not answering my calls all night. That’s interesting.”

“Don’t start, Chan,” I warned.

“I’m not.” She paused for a moment. “But you’re cute together.”

“Yeah. A’ight, man. Bye.”

“Bye.”

I hung up and went back to checking my unopened emails and trying to get my breakfast down.

“Hi.” Myome’s little voice had me glancing up from my phone.

She wore a T-shirt and a pair of leggings. She wiped her eyes and yawned as she walked further inside the kitchen.

“What’s up?” I pushed back from her table and held both hands out toward her.

She didn’t ask any questions. She walked over and I grabbed her waist. I lowered her to my knee and she turned into me, throwing her arms around my neck and laying her head on my shoulder. I wrapped one arm firmly around her waist and used the other to finish looking at my emails.

It was almost scary how simple shit felt, how normal having Myome in my lap felt.

“Morning,” she mumbled.

“Morning.”

“We slept together,” she said after a few seconds of silence.

“We did.”

“And now we’re…” She paused while she thought of her next words.

“Now, we chilling,” I said simply.

“We’re dating,” she clarified.

“Word?”

“Berlin.” She lifted her head, gripped my face, tilted my head back, and locked eyes with me. “Don’t fucking play with me.”

I snickered.

“That good dick got you spazzing already, huh?”

“Please don’t act like you weren’t upset about me potentially being on a date. That shit had you saying you didn’t want me getting dressed for other men and buried in my pussy talking about how you?—”

I cut Myome off. “I’m fucking with you.” I leaned up and kissed her smart ass mouth. “I know what the fuck I said and I meant that shit.” I lightly smacked her ass. “Chill out.”

She cut her eyes at me but didn’t argue.

“Yeah, yeah.” She leaned down and kissed me and I tightened my hold on her.

“I got you a chai.” I spoke against her mouth.
