Standing well below his six-two frame, she had a body made for sin with curves in all the right places. His dick twitched behind his pants, and he was thankful as fuck for the jacket covering his swelling zipper.

Even through the ultra-professional blouse and suit jacket, Jason could make out the swells of two perfectly proportioned breasts. From beneath her skirt’s acceptable hemline, he noticed her legs were tan and toned. A runner, if he had to guess.

Her dark hair was pulled back in a way that her waves rested atop the crown of her head. A few wavy strands framed her face in a way that made him want to tuck them behind her adorable ears, and her face...

Lord have mercy, she had the most beautiful face he’d ever seen.

Olive skin that looked smooth and flawless. Big, round, intelligent eyes the color of milk chocolate, and a full, perfectly bow-shaped mouth that had him longing for a taste.

But it was the set of twin dimples—one on each of her soft, kissable cheeks—that intrigued Jason the most.

“Nice to meet you, Agent Ryker.” She held out a hand and smiled.

Damn, those dimples just got deeper.

Keeping himself in check, Jason took hold of her delicate hand and squeezed. The strength in her grasp surprised him, though it probably shouldn’t.

Something in her pretty eyes told him this woman was a force to be reckoned with.

“Dr. Ruiz.”

“Please, call me Sophie.”

“Sophie.” He gave her a slight nod.

Though he hated to, Jason released her hand and gestured toward one of the two leather chairs facing his desk. “Please, have a seat.”

“Thank you. Oh, and here.” She handed him a slim, black portfolio. “My CV is in there, as well as several professional references.”

A CV, or curriculum vitae, was a clinical medical professional’s version of a resume.

With the portfolio in hand, Jason made his way back to his chair and sat down at his desk.

During the course of the next hour, he proceeded to ask the standard interview questions, being sure not to delve into anything that could be considered personal.

Which was hard as hell, because he found himself wanting to know anything and everything about the intriguing woman.

Just two questions in, he’d already made the decision to hire her. Not because she was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen. In fact, that made things even harder.

Pun intended.

Since the hospital was his baby, he’d most likely be spending a few days a week there. At least in the beginning. Once it was up and running, he’d still need to meet regularly with the facility director.

Which meant he was going to be seeing a lot of Dr. Ruiz.

Wish I could seeallof her.

The sudden and highly inappropriate thought had Jason damn near shooting out of his chair.

This woman was going to be working for him. Well, not directly. Technically, her boss would be the hospital’s Chief Medical Officer.

He shouldn’t be thinking of a future Homeland employee in such a manner. He was a professional, for Christ’s sake. And so was she.

“Thank you for your time, Dr. Ruiz.” Jason stood and went back around to her. “There are still a few final steps before I can officially offer you the job, but I’ll be contacting HR to let them know they can begin the hiring process.”

“Really?” Those big eyes lit up as she held out her hand for the second time. “Thank you so much, Agent Ryker. You won’t regret this.”

He wasn’t so sure about that.
