“If you don’t want kids, I’d never ask you to have them.”
“You wouldn’t have to ask me to do shit. I’d just do it because I want to.”
“Then, you do want kids?” Jiselle laughed.
“Nah. I just want to give you whatever you want out of this life.” I exhaled and sat up.
“Stop trying to make me fuck you, Stone.” Jiselle rolled her eyes with a little laugh.
I didn’t laugh with her this time.
“Why do you do that?”
“Do what? Want to fuck you?”
“Nah. Pivot when you want to be real about your feelings. Any time me or Kiano say some shit that gets to you a little bit, you jump to sex like that’s going to distract us from being in love with you. Why do you do that?”
Selle paused. She set her makeup brush down and tilted her head as she looked at me in the mirror. She sighed and turned to face me.
“I guess I just feel like men tell women a lot of shit when they want something from them.” She shrugged.
“So you think you’re going to fuck us into not liking you anymore?”
“I think there’s a good chance you’re going to get bored now that you’ve gotten what you want. And the sooner you cut your losses, the better.”
“Word?” I scooted to the edge of her bed, grabbed her chair, and yanked it toward me. “Come here.” I grabbed her hands and pulled her in. I spread my legs to house her between them and set my hands on her waist. “I don’t just want to be fucking on you and I don’t want you to ever feel like you have to shut down or hide how you’re feeling. This ain’t that. I don’t ever want you to think it is. You think I’m sacrificing my sleep and bringing you to my crib where my entire family lays their heads because I want some pussy? That you’ve already given me?” I pulled her in closer. “Huh?”
“Less when your hands are on me and you’re looking at me like that.”
“Like what?” I blinked up at her.
“Like that.” She forced a little laugh and looked off.
“Don’t look over there. Look at me. I’m talking to you.” I grabbed her chin and turned her head back. “I’m not playing around with nobody when it comes to how I feel about you, you included. Don’t try to play with me like I’m one of them weird ass niggas just trying to take you home after the bar.”
She exhaled. “Okay.”
“Now look me in my face and tell me what I look at you like.”
“Like…” She paused while she carefully searched for the words.
“Like I’m in love with you?” I offered.
She cut her eyes at me. “Stone?—”
I cut her off. “Jiselle, don’t do that. You’re not fucking stupid. You knew you had me wrapped around your finger before you ever took me home. You knew where shit was going the night you asked me to get breakfast after the bar.”
“I didn’t know anything actually.” She threw her arms around my neck and I scooted back on the bed so she could straddle me. “I had an idea but nothing is set in stone.”
“That was clever.”
“Thank you.” She giggled and leaned in. I turned my head and she gasped. “Did you just avoid my kiss, Stone?”
“Yeah. I’m trying to have a real ass conversation with you and you deflecting and shit. Don’t do that.” I gripped her ass and looked into her pretty ass face. I licked my lips. “Come on, Selle. Don’t be like that. For real. Tell daddy what he wants to hear.”
“I’m kind of obsessed with you too?” she offered.
“And what else?”
