“Yeah, but when the charges are dropped, he’ll get everything back.” Sean paused and lowered his voice. “And if he can prove my grandfather was murdered by his wife, he’ll have even more.”
“Fucking Pamela,” Mitzie blurted.
“What was that?” Sean asked.
“Pamela. All of this is her fucking fault. If she would’ve just given me the money I asked for, we wouldn’t be sitting here.”
“She flipped quick! Did y’all see that?” Bronze laughed.
“What money?”
Mitzie rolled her eyes. “I asked her for the money to pay our rent. She went on and on about how she’d already paid me, and how I wasn’t gonna get any more money out of her. I was like, ‘After everything I’ve done for you, you won’t help me out?’ That’s when she told me about the other job.”
“The other job?”
“She wanted me to bring her a kid.”
Sean made a sound of disgust and turned his head away from Mitzie.
“Right? I was like, ‘No fucking way. That’s disgusting, and I don’t want nothing to do with it.’ But then she said it was just for pictures. Of the kid. By themselves. So, I thought, okay, that’s not so bad.”
“Not so bad? You’re fucking sick!”
“I didn’t do anything wrong. I was just the middleman.”
“Holy shit! Have you done this before?”
“What? No! Of course not. But desperate times call for desperate measures.”
“Yeah, like staging a fake kidnapping to get some money from the local vigilante bikers. You said nothing about kiddie porn!” Sean heaved in a breath and looked directly at the camera mounted in the corner of the room. “I swear to fuck I didn’t know.”
Mitzie followed Sean’s eyes and gasped when she noticed the camera. “You stupid son of a bitch!!” she screamed and began to thrash against her restraints.
Sean, however, slumped back in his chair with a look of utter defeat on his face. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.
Before I had a chance to give it any more consideration, Copper’s phone rang, drawing all eyes in the room to him. He glanced at the screen and exhaled heavily. “Somebody other than Batta and Bear go separate those two fuckwads. I have to take this.” With that, he stepped away from the table and raised his phone to his ear.
I remained seated and shamelessly tried to overhear what was being said to him. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make out any words, but I recognized the voice almost immediately.
Tatum.
And she was in business mode. Which couldn’t be good, considering she was well aware of what was going on at the clubhouse.
Copper ended the call quickly and whispered something to Spazz as he returned to the head of the table.
His eyes landed on Trey first, and stayed there. “That was your wife with some developing news.”
Spazz turned his laptop toward Copper. “This is live,” he said quietly.
Copper’s eyes widened as he studied the screen. “Can you put that up there for everyone to see?”
“Yeah, but it’ll replace the camera feed.”
“The footage is still being recorded, right?”
“Yes, and saved in two locations.”
“Go ahead.”
