Caught With the Sheriff

Jasper Lockhart:
I don’t like things that get out of control and that’s Willow Wilder. She’s so shy and quiet that she seems to fade into the background but yet when I’m around her I feel like I’ve been electrocuted. She drives me crazy and I know she doesn’t mean to.
But every call she makes, every weird thing that happens around her just draws me closer until I can’t seem to stay away no matter how hard I try. She’s soft and sweet and caring and she makes my daughter smile. She laughs with my mother when they’re watching a tv show while I check out her place. She’s everywhere and nowhere.
I’m starting to think that she’s everything to me as well. Until she doesn’t show up for our first real date. That’s when I know. I’m going to move heaven and earth to find her because she’s everything to me. As the Sheriff of Whispering Pines I’ll protect what’s mine at all costs. Willow Wilder is mine.

Willow Wilder:
When Livvy Spencer, my agent, shows up to try to talk to me about another book signing he follows her. The reason I’m afraid every second of every day. The man who showed up at my last book signing and tried to make sure it was my last book signing…forever.
At the time I had no one. Now I have Livvy, Maggie Lockhart, Claudia Lockhart and the Sheriff of Whispering Pines all lined up with me. Maggie is convinced that I’m just what her son needs and Claudia wants a mom desperately. Especially one that likes to tell her princess stories. Livvy has already been at my side on the worst day of my life.
And then there’s Jasper. He’s calm, controlled and a steady influence even with all my chaos. I can’t help but wonder how he stays so calm all the time.
He sets my heart at ease even though I’m terrified out of my mind. He will protect me.
But sometimes a girl has to learn to help herself too. And when my trouble finds me, I know I need to keep myself sane until Jasper comes for me. And he will. I have faith. And a heart that’s waiting to love again.
