“More,” she whispers, and I’m happy to oblige. My lips return to her center, sucking on her bud while two fingers slide inside her slick walls. Between her gasps and moans, her nails run through my hair.

“Do you want to fuck me?” She asks. I lift my head from her clit and kiss her thigh.

“Of course I do, but not tonight. When I’ve earned it.”

“Good boy.” Her voice is raspy and the words do something to me, something only she could do. “Make me come, and then I want to watch you get yourself off.”

I slow down my efforts, dragging the moment out to the point of frustration for her. She whines and moans as I stroke her g-spot, her muscles tightening around my fingers until she cries and shakes.

She nods and I unzip my pants with one hand, the other cupping her soaked pussy. I fist my cock as she watches, her own fingers matching my speed on her clit.

“Did you want to do this when you first saw me?” She asks, her tone dark and sultry.

“I never once thought I’d be this lucky.”

Once her fingers dip deep inside of herself, her moans get louder. The pressure builds in my core, and I don’t know how long I can hold on.

“Come with me,” she demands as her fingers move faster.

“No.” I growl as the pressure and pleasure swirl together. “I will get you off. Me and only me.”

With one hand wrapped around my cock, I push her fingers out of the way with the other. The second my tongue teases her pussy I start to quiver, sending my pleasure through her, and she cries out as her back arches. We come crashing down together. Panting, lost in each other’s gaze as the rush of pleasure dims and only exhaustion takes hold of us.

She’s naked and she shivers as a yawn escapes her lips. This is everything I want her to feel. Satisfied and exhausted from a body pushed to its limits. She looks down at me with a sleepy expression, and there’s no way I’m letting her leave. I pull my shirt off my chest and slide it over her head. “It’s late and you’re tired.”

She gives me a sleepy nod. “I was social two nights in a row.”

My lips press against her forehead. “Two nights? That’s madness and inhumane.” I motion behind me. “Go take the bed. I’ll sleep out here.” She presses her hand against my chest and makes a little circle with her thumb. Then swallows.

“I needed this, thank you.”

“You are very welcome.”

Slowly, I help her to her feet, gathering her gown and her cellphone. “There’s a charger already plugged in,” I murmur, watching her as she drifts to the bedroom door. She has no idea what she’s done to me tonight, but I don’t ever want it to end.

CHAPTER 8

Alana

My legs are still wobbly as I shut the door behind me. Fifteen feet away, the only man I’ve ever loved sets up camp on the couch. I rest my head against the back of the door. What am I doing? Okay, take care of your basic needs, get into bed, and don’t overthink this. Well, two out of three ain’t bad. That was my mom’s favorite Meat Loaf song.

I toss my purse onto the bed and walk into the bathroom. His shirt hugs my body, and there’s an ache deep inside my soul. Why does he have to be so damn good?

Once nestled under the covers, exhaustion takes over. Only the emotions of the last forty-eight hours cycle through my mind, not the events themselves. And there’s one emotion that peaks more than the joy of seeing my friends happy, the pride in a well-executed plan, or even the confusion of seeing Grae in a situation I did not expect.

Loneliness.

I scroll through my phone, checking for updates. My email is flooded with pictures from Andrey at the parks, but it’s the one Lance sends that I focus on. It’s a group shot in front of the castle at night, and it’s nearly everyone I care about.

Izzy and Lance stand in the center with their son, Drew. Waverly and Lucas are next to them, her skin already turning pink, with the rest of her family surrounding them. Dimitri and Katya squeeze Ian’s shoulder. The kid is in heaven. He hasn’t been this happy since I delivered the childhood belongings he left behind in Russia.

There’s that pull at my heart.

Thiago and Monica hug Maria as she glues herself to Olivia. Hadeon and Penny made it down there in time. Good. The kids must be thrilled. Joey and Jenny have matching ears, and I don’t think either of them has taken them off all day. Even my two works in progress, Uri and Donny, seem like they’re having a good time.

I should feel proud. Look at what I created—love, unions, friendships, and a future.

But I’m not there.
